I ordered a 2015 Mustang on September 4th and the car was delivered yesterday. Problem is...they ordered a manual and I requested an automatic. I am furious. I waited 12 weeks! They apologized for the error and ordered another one priority. This one is scheduled to build in December and be delivered by Christmas. I have been renting vehicles since September, which can be costly. Now I have to pay an extra $800 for a rental while I wait for another build to complete. The dealer refuses to compensate me for their error. What would you do?
You should have reviewed the DORA when you ordered it since it has the complete printout of what you ordered... I understand that it was the dealers fault but you should have reviewed your order... as far as the car is concerned.... you sold it... which brought you to having to rent a car and possibilities of the car even coming in late...can't blame Ford on that one.... hopefully your dealer will work something out or even give you a loaner but in all honesty, they really don't have to since you did sell your own car...... try the loaner part... that will save you some money though

Call Ford HQ and request compensation, get a lawyer, or take it that the stuck you and do nothing. Only 3 options you really have
Nonsense.... it was not fords error, it was the dealer... dude sold his car which he did not have to... he brought that part up on his own... legally, there is nothing in this except for the dealer to work out some courtesy deal

Thanks everybody. They are going to cover the first two months of my car payment for the error. Thanks again for the information. Accountability is everything. They made the error. Its only fair to try and rectify.

For everyone else out there this is good advice. Have the dealer print out your order when you place it. Read it carefully, it should reflect exactly the options you ordered.

To be fair, the dealer's own process when taking a retail order should include printing out the DORA making sure the customer looks it over, and then submitting the order. Not every customer knows what a DORA is, I didn't.

But my dealer printed it, told me to take it home, review it, and call him in the morning. That's really the reason my order was placed 5/24 and not 5/20. He made sure I took my time and got exactly what I was expecting.

I'll also agree, anticipating any specific schedule for a new vehicle release is on the buyer. Especially when it has financial implications and leads to hardship.

Although good on the dealer for taking ownership of the mistake and providing adequate compensation to the buyer.

I don't understand what the deal is... I ordered mine on Sept 11th and I didn't get a VIN # until Nov 7th. You've gotten two cars and they haven't even started building mine!! What gives?!?1?!

True... can understand that but I also did all the research and knew exactly what I wanted and ordered it.... reviewed both verbal and the printout

My salesman did the same thing to me. Manual or auto is in a different location on the order form than the options listed, if you don't study it you can get caught up in the moment and miss it. I caught it before I left the dealership because the final X-plan amount seemed too good from what I had on my printout from the builder.

If it makes you feel better I ordered mine in May and you will have gotten two cars in before I get one.:)

I don't think you can ask much more than this...........and glad they're doing something to soften the blow. Hope the second order arrives on time, and make sure you check that second order VERY carefully :)
