I ordered a 2015 Mustang on September 4th and the car was delivered yesterday. Problem is...they ordered a manual and I requested an automatic. I am furious. I waited 12 weeks! They apologized for the error and ordered another one priority. This one is scheduled to build in December and be delivered by Christmas. I have been renting vehicles since September, which can be costly. Now I have to pay an extra $800 for a rental while I wait for another build to complete. The dealer refuses to compensate me for their error. What would you do?

Call Ford HQ and request compensation, get a lawyer, or take it that the stuck you and do nothing. Only 3 options you really have

Learn to drive a manual? But in all seriousness unless the mix up was with the factory somehow or you have a signed sales agreement saying exactly what they were supposed to order I'd say you're screwed on the first car.

I know how to drive a manual. Just prefer automatic. The dealer made the error when entering the order. It was a mistake but costly on my end.

I sold my car back in September. I anticipated and planned for the 12 week max build. But the error is causing it to be 17 weeks for me to get my vehicle. So its not my problem, its theirs, past 12 weeks. I just spoke with the GM and he's working on something. I guess I needed to talk to the right person.

You need proof, that's all I'm getting at. Otherwise in the end it's your word vs theirs and they probably won't have a problem moving the car if you walk.

We are all good on the proof. They know it was their error and I have emails proving so, plus my paperwork from when I made the deposit. I am just wondering if this has happened to anyone else and what was the outcome of their situation. I can't see a dealer making an error and not resolving the situation.

Hope they take care of you. Best of luck.

I'd ask em to let you "demo" some used who-cares-what from the used lot for a few weeks...

You're going to have a hard time because you anticipated the delivery date- it wasn't a promised date.

What if the deliver got stuck in a snowstorm for 2 weeks? Same result really; you're only at a month late. I would try to call Ford HQ and be nice to them and explain the problem and they may give you some discount on the car due to the error, but it will be very hard to demand compensation.

See if the dealership manager can get their regional manager/HQ to knock off a few hundred bucks on the car price for the trouble.

That's not a bad idea. Dealerships typically have loaners for major service. Tell them to give you a free loaner for the time until the new car comes in. Then you aren't out of pocket.
