Hi, I was wondering if you can help me. I have a 2014 3.7 and took a 2015 GT. I always wanted to upgrade to the GT and found a low mileage 2015. Not the LE. I took it for a ride and it felt like a harsher ride. I felt many of the bumps and it just didn't drive as smooth as my 14. I was thinking it might be the low pro stock tires on the GT compared to the Nexens I have on my V6. Can you help me understand this? Thx.

Definitely a stiffer suspension on the GT. If it had the performance package, it would be even stiffer than a non-PP GT. If you want a GT but also want the most compliant ride, you will want the standard 235/50-18 tire/wheel setup.

I have never heard/read the words firm and base GT stock suspension in one sentence. Must be a PP :p

Yeah when I test drove my 2015 the suspension felt kinda soft for the amount of power it has.

Like most things, “stiff” is a matter of perspective. To us that began driving 50+ years ago, most everything on the road today rides harsh. My ‘15 GT Premium with factory 20” wheels is stiffer than I like but then again, I no longer drive like I did when I was 20 something. I even looked into maybe going with standard 18” wheels but I like the look of the 20” too much to give them up. :)

The non-PP cars have soft springs but are damped such that they are unnecessarily harsh. Better shocks and struts offer a nice ride improvement overall.

You will need to provide detailed information on the vehicle you drove, to get good help.

It is a 2015 GT Premium. Auto w/Nav. Under 10k miles. Does that help?

It does. That means that as-built, it has the base, not performance package suspension. Not sure if it was modified, though.

The previous owner changed out the cold air filter to a JTL. It looks cared for but I don't know if he changed anything else. Maybe its just the difference in a 2015 GT VS a 2014 3.7.

You'd think it would ride better w/IRS? Maybe it has the 20" wheel package like Smokey613s absolutely gorgeous ride. Love those rims.

You could swap them for base 18 rims or something nicer. More sidewall non-low profile tires would make a difference.

I had a 13 V-6, Moved to a 15 GT Premium. I would have to say the reverse, my 13 V-6 was harsher than the 15 GT. Maybe the OP was test driving a PP car, or the thing is modified.
