Hey Eric,
Have you turned on your transmission temp using the Forscan/OBDLinkMX fix? I think it would be an extremely valuable mod for you and your 350. I've encountered the conditions you wrote of above in my 350 and haven't hit limp mode...you might have something else going on (not to say you do, but it might be something to consider). Good luck with your cooler mod

Tank: do you have the link to the instructions for this? i cant find it...the thread is too long. also, there is a wifi and a BT OBD Link, does it matter which one i use?

thanks!

Hey Adam,
I have no experience with the wifi, I used the Bluetooth as Epiphany recommended. Yeah, the threads are kind of long but it's easiest just to grind through to get what you need.

This one has a nice step by step write up on Forscan on the first page:
http://www.mustang6g.com/forums/showthread.php?t=61773
This one is the sticky here in the GT350 forum specific to our cars:
http://www.mustang6g.com/forums/showthread.php?t=61884
I used the equipment I listed in post 25.
I think you might have already found this one!
I don't think it's hard- you have to pay attention, take pictures of screen shots before you change data, take pics after you change data- and don't get freaked out by the warning screens that pop up!
Good luck

I used the WiFi+Bluetooth one with no issues. I did use the wifi to connect. Found it for $50 on eBay!

I like to disassemble things.
I think you assume way too much...

So 2 trans were sold by one retailer. That's great that a couple guys got a deal. when the trans are available again I hope that they will go for $2700, but I have a feeling that that price isn't going to be available.

Unless Ford Performance comes up with authorized pricing according to VIN.

But claiming that the price will be $2700, based on that one time "sale" when all other indications show it going for $4800, is just an assumption on your part.

I laid out everything for you Lemers in an easy to understand format. No assumptions were made. And I stated that there were three (not two) that ultimately got transmissions from FP before sales were halted.

And again, I told you how the VIN verification works. They don't need to "come up" with anything as that is in place now. If you can't provide them with a Tech Pack VIN you won't be able to get a TR3160 transmission from them, plain and simple.

I didn't claim what the price "will be." I reported on a FPP distributor that was selling them at a given price. Any FPP dealer could adjust their pricing to match if they so choose. There was no "sale" involved but rather a quoted price. No assumption.

You continually quote $4,800 as the price. Again - that is the suggested retail price from FPP. Nobody is expected to pay that. If you dig deep you'll find distributors selling for a substantial discount. Mike at Buyfordracing sold three to date at that price ($2,700). Just for you, I've written to see if FPP has raised the suggested retail higher than $4,800 or if they somehow will no longer allow him to discount the transmissions as much as he has.

From what I can tell he isn't making assumptions, but he's giving away some really good information to the rest of us. My take away is to at least consider buying from Mike at BuyFordRacing, because there's not necessarily any benefit in buying from a local dealer.
Thanks Hack.

I think you'd be hard pressed to find any dealer that will sell as low as $2,700.

So for $4800 plus the 700, plus install would hopefully come out to 6500??

I think ordering a 17 and not getting the color I want is a better option I guess? Taking the 5k + loss on a trade in would be the easiest route?

Better yet, I guess I will just track my bike instead and if I total it, I can buy another one for 5k. I know you can buy any scooter or whatever bike you want and it will last a track session, kind of sucks they blew it with this car that I love...

Wish I would have known the 15,16's would have had this issue before I got mine, wasn’t an issue till a few months after I got it, but I guess the people that wanted one when they came out get screwed. Oh well, lesson learned, next time wait till a 2nd year of production... looks like I will not be taking my car to the track.

There are many ways to do it for under $1000 and without a new transmission.

Spirited driving for sure!
I gotta say turning on my trans temp gave me a much better sense of what my cars capabilities and limitations are. I felt there were several times when trans temps were in the 240s where I thought if I pushed it a bit harder, I could've induced limp mode...I didn't want to do this to my 350 despite the official word of limp mode being protective....To get this info is under a $100 (with my existing 6 y.o. Windows laptop), well worth it for me.
Lol, that was only after it went into limp mode. I let it cool down a bit and then beat on it to see if it was good to go. I definitely think it's a good investment just need to make it.

Since Ford has released the cooler kits but require a FPP dealer to sell them through, has anyone found the most cooperative dealer price wise? I called BuyFordRacing but I haven't heard back yet.

Hey Gordon,
To my knowledge, Ford hasn't released anything but a part number and email requesting information....an email I responded to that as of this writing, has not been acknowledged as received...

The FP website and paper catalog has a list of authorized dealers.
I just called one who states Ford has not released the kit yet so he can't order or see pricing. I did tell him the MSRP on the cooler kit only and he said it would go below that price when released....the wait continues...

Mike from BFR is on his way to SEMA.

I wrote regarding the latest on availability and pricing. I don't think anyone is going to be happy with the latest decision made from FPP. More when I have a moment to explain.

Not so. I just talked to Isaac and both part numbers have been released. They are subject to verification of tech pack ownership and will only be shipped to dealers or FPP vendors. FPP requires the selection of a dealer or a FPP vendor to release the part to. My local dealer sucks and only sells stuff at list price. I am looking for a dealer or vendor that will give me a better price than MSRP.

Here is the email I got:
Gordon,

Information we will need:

VIN :

Name:

Phone Number :

Parts requested:

Preferred dealer:

Dealer Phone (If not a Ford Performance Parts distributor) :

The part number for the cooler kit itself is M-7095-M8S MSRP $695
The part number for the transmission is M-7000-M8S MSRP $4,800

If you are only purchasing the M-7095-M8S, you will need a 12V external pump and 6 AN lines. A pump similar to a Weldon 9200 would be ideal, with wide thermal operation capability, and a similar flow rate.

Although, local race-prep shops may have experience and suggest other pumps, and fitment capability if your Ford dealer isn’t interested in installing the pump in your GT350.

For a list of all of our Ford Performance Parts distributors, see the link below, or click the “Where to Buy” link for a directory

And if you call an FP authorized seller, as of 60 minutes ago, they will tell you the part number for the cooler is not in the system. Also, when I responded to the same email you just posted, I requested a breakdown of the individual components for the cooler kit and have yet to receive a reply. I will post this info if pertinent at the time of receipt.

I'm just letting you know what I've been told...
