As my delicate little flower sits at the dealership with brass pouring out of the transmission I find myself reminiscing about the good ole days when I had the Boss. I could beat the crap out that thing and never had to worry about it. The Boss was bullet proof! I may trade my delicate little flower for something that will handle some abuse. I was planning on lots of mods but now I'm afraid something else will break as soon as I do. I Don't want a car I have to worry about all the time.[/
I'm back in a boss after owning a 350 tech......no regrets. I sold the 350 tech for $57K. The dealer that bought it has it for two months and now has it for $58K and still no buyers. Tech cars are dropping because of the 17 350 with all the coolers.
Yes you do, read through the Forscan thread sticky in this forum.... If you have access to laptop w Bluetooth & Obdlink MX scanner, you can turn it on.I don't have a transmission temp gauge.
I don't spend lots on cars like you, but I feel similarly about how special the GT350 is. I will most likely keep mine as well, and do what I have to in order to keep the transmission and rear diff cool. I've been waiting hoping that Ford Performance's solution would keep the warranties completely intact. Too bad with making such a great car the last few details were missed. It doesn't change how much I love the car, but it changes my feelings about some other things.Great info Crazyfish.
On a side note, I've bought 200k in new Fords this year. I would hope this means something to them. Hell I haven't owned anything but a Ford in years after terrible experiences with Chevy and Dodge. I really like my Fords and have yet to have an issue. I am disappointed that my GT350 is a lesser car than I thought I was buying. That being said I love the car and am going to keep it. If I need to I'll do a cooler mod myself while the car is put away for winter.
This is a very detailed post and I thank you for that.R parameter for reduced power is: Trans Temp threshold is
260 at 30 seconds and 280 at 5 then limp is applied
Coolant temp is set at 220 at 30 seconds and 240 at 5 then limp. You cannot see these temps. Only head temps which is approx 15 degrees lower.
Rear diff is set at 250 for 30 seconds and 265 for 5 then limp
Was it over the temps for the allotted time as well. It takes both the temp and the time to set it into limp. This is a very detailed post and I thank you for that.
I'm not sure about the diff temps. I registered 315 on the cluster for diff at my last track event, a little bit in the red but it didn't limp. I pulled off as I didn't want to test if that were a thing. I just checked for DTCs but didn't have any temperature-related.
It takes minutes to go from 265 to 315.Was it over the temps for the allotted time as well. It takes both the temp and the time to set it into limp.
Really? I would have thought that could happen pretty quickly under track conditions. I'm also surprised that your car, with coolers would get that hot. I have no real reason to be, I guess I just am.It takes minutes to go from 265 to 315.
Unfortunately, there is no "may be hindered," it will be hindered, as is mine...and yes, every right...8. It sucks that my dream of driving this beast on the Autobahn and the Ring may be hindered by heat issues.
10. I believe my $57k investment gives me the right to be bitter about the heat situation.
Well, it does have a cooler but it was just on this particular track conditions were right enough that the cooler couldn't keep up and the temperature kept climbing. That particular session it probably started from near 200 degrees anyway from prior sessions.Really? I would have thought that could happen pretty quickly under track conditions. I'm also surprised that your car, with coolers would get that hot. I have no real reason to be, I guess I just am.
