It will be interesting to see what happens when 2017 1LE Camaros start hitting the track and start lapping GT350s going into limp mode. Not going to make for good PR.

I know when mine went into limp I was still passing the two GT PPs that were on the track with me. Yes it limited power, but the amazing cornering was still there. Who knows, maybe I'm just that much better of a driver.

;) doubtful.

What does the need for limp mode say about the car?

I'd say the typical "driver" of a GT350 was someone who sees it as a performance upgrade to the Mustang GT w/PP. Ford didn't put a "limp mode" on any of the sub models of the Mustang. Why? Was it crazy for Ford to think someone would take a mustang to the track? Or is it that Ford knows that the sub model Mustangs can take some track abuse and not destroy the car during the warranty period.

Which brings me to the Gt350. I dare someone to tell me that this car was NOT designed with track performance in mind. So why need limp mode when the coolers aren't present? Is it because the GT350 is a delicate little flower and if handled with any aggressiveness it will self destruct during the warranty period?

All I know is that if the Mustang GT engaged a limp mode that the Mustang V6 didn't have there would be hell to pay.

Forget waiting for Ford and their cooler mess and get yourself a track ready car. Send ford a message with your wallet.
Get yourself a 16 C7 Z51 with all the coolers you need and a $10K discount . You might even trade even Steven. That's what I did except I got a 15 Z51 and $5K back. Happy as a clam. Or get a 17 grand sport in the winter and wait for discounts. I'll wait a couple of years and pick up a track ready 350 or C7 GS. Did you see the laps times the 350R did compared to the C7 GS ---lighting laps Car and Driver this year.

FYI. I hope this is helpful. :ford:

I think this email sent to me and partially quoted above was an attempt by Ford Performance to try to help forum members understand the current situation and provide a best estimate for delivery of a solution
I'm very surprised that there is not a discussion about this email sent from Ford Performance.
To all those that said our mass call to FP would not have any effect on the situation I believe you were wrong. Looks like we finally have a statement from FP.

What do you guys think about this email from FP?

Did they put it on their site? No, then what exactly do we have?

Again if true, this is very good news and thanks to Hack for posting.

But i'll believe it when i see a cooler kit available at my dealership part's department....i would really like if they would include some kind of pump with said cooler kit.

In the meantime, i'm just wondering who leaked this thread, or is Ford really spying on us.

I would hope that people that work there would be interested enough to read what the most enthusiastic of their customers are saying.

Sure they learn to take some with a grain of salt, but hopefully they take major issues to heart.

Great points Trackcrazy.
First, thanks to Hack for posting.
Second, it would have been nice for FP to participate here (similar to the other Ford reps). I think most members would hold them in a position of esteem and would support their participation. I think too most members understand they are employees of a major multinational corporation and are hindered as such...Also, their participation would allow an unprecedented level of transparency.
Third, it might be nice to know how small FP is. I might be naive but I envisioned a division at least as big to meet the needs of their products. (This might be an example of the limitations of multinational corporations....)
Fourth, we have another anecdotal source FP is working on a fix.
Fifth, the partial email Hack posted said the fix should be ready to order in 6-8 weeks. Makes me think of something a retired astronaut said about humans landing on Mars, it's always 20 years in the future. That was ten years ago and we're still 20 years from landing on Mars....

As my delicate little flower sits at the dealership with brass pouring out of the transmission I find myself reminiscing about the good ole days when I had the Boss. I could beat the crap out that thing and never had to worry about it. The Boss was bullet proof! I may trade my delicate little flower for something that will handle some abuse. I was planning on lots of mods but now I'm afraid something else will break as soon as I do. I Don't want a car I have to worry about all the time.

So being overseas there are some limits to my choices for vehicles

1. Gov only ships 1 vehicle each way. I choose to ship my wife's SUV knowing I was going to try to get a GT350

2. If I choose to by a euro spec vehicle, in most cases, I'm not bringing it back to the US. So that makes for a bad investment

3. "Dealerships" that can provided me with an American Spec vehicle are few and far between. What manufactures choose to participate in these programs are limited too

4. Chevy does not participate in overseas sales, so if I were to look for one then I would have to buy it from a grey market importer with whatever mods they may have to make to sell it

5. MAS sells only American manufacturers ford and Chrysler and only cars built in N America (I.E. They can't sell the Focus RS since it's made in Europe).

6. The ability to buy Limited cars like the GT350 and Hellcat are lotteried off. I entered a drawing and won a drawing to buy 1 of 31 MAS allocations of 2016 GT350s

7. Being in Europe my GT350 will most likely retain its value better (grey market imports are selling around $100,000 for tech packs). I'll make a to sell or not to sell choice when I'm one the way back to the US.

8. It sucks that my dream of driving this beast on the Autobahn and the Ring may be hindered by heat issues.

9. Vettes don't have backseat a and I have at least 5 years before I can kick the youngest out of the house, so wife rule of 4 seats applies.

10. I believe my $57k investment gives me the right to be bitter about the heat situation.

Did some unscientific testing today with my friend who own's a 2016 Track Pack. We did a 32 mile drive and it was in the low 80s. 95% of the trip was highway driving between 60 to 80MPH with one WOT run to triple digits on open highway. His temp was at 135 when we arrived and I was at 190. The cars were parked for about 1 1/2 hrs. Same drive back between 60-80 MPH with one WOT run to triple digits. The temp outside was now in the low 90s and it's more humid. When we got back my temp was 221 and his...135. It seems the Track Pack stabilizes where the Tech Pack keeps climbing.
