If we "have to" add firebird, then you "have to" add all years for the mustang including the 8 years where the camaro was missing. The first camaro was introduced to steal some of fords thunder, then the 5th gen was brought to life after gm noticed how well the retro thing was going. Too little too late though, camaro/challenger will never catch up to the success of the s197.

Goes to show being a copycat on Sunday doesn't sell cars on Monday.

Or is it, winning against the decepticons on Sunday sells cars on Monday?

Something like that...

I guess we can truly thank GM for showing the Camaro so that Ford could get its head out of its ass with the 4.6.

So, is there no proof that winning will sell a car? Yea, what I though.

Ford really had their heads up their asses when they built this. That 4.6 you trash talk is still whipping chevys to this day.

A two year special edition?? Sorry, the 4.6 is a pitiful motor! The LS1 outpowered it in 1998 and Ford kept with it until 2010!!!

I mean, I've seen fanboys but to say that the 4.6 is still whipping chevys is a little much dont you think?

Yeah, that is what Ford was waiting on. If the Camaro would have continued through 2002, a 2003-'04 Camaro would have had a 400-450ho Supercharged LS1 (or LS2) and the levels of performance now would have been far greater. The Camaro pussed out, quit and they have been crying about it since. I have no hard feelings for those who quit... That 4.6 continued on.. the Camaro didn't.

The Camaro was mismanaged. The debut was delayed but not their fault (sort of). The naming scheme is retarded...

The Z28 should have been the base V8 with the ability to scale the package however you want... I mean Z28 base, Z/28, Z/28.R, Z/28 1LE, Z/28.R 1LE and so on... From base GT to Boss 302R would have been covered. The LSA should have been the SS because there is little confusion that a Super Sport is Supercharged. SS could be extended across the Chevy lineup. You can scale an SS up in track performance with the Z28 packages (SS Z28). The '14 z28 should have been the ZL1 (427 like the '69) and could also be COPO'd or scaled up to an SS (LS9) and even with the Z28.R 1LE Track Pack.

Sh!ts all f___ed up now... and none of the effort put forth in road racing is permitted to be applied in Motorsport at both Pro and Am levels. Chevy is dumping so much of it's resources into road racing, they are sacrificing the street-ability, just to pull weight out of a car you can't use in road racing...

Doesn't that sound insane to you?

Crazy isn't Ford offering a 4.6 with 30 less horsepower than an LS1 in 1999, crazy is bringing that up 15 years later to defend a Camaro that has nothing in common with the previous one.

You should also know that SLP did those SS Camaro's... Chevy couldn't build their own shit back then either. I compare the 2002 SS Z28 and '03-'04 Terminator to the '12 ZL1 and '13-'14 GT500... The '14 z28 is just one final attempt to steer some media light back to the Camaro. It appears that only about half a dozen media sources are even remotely interested in the z28.

Motor Trend/Hot Rod magazines asked Al if there was a race series the z28 would be racing in... Al said they were trying to create a series so the z28 owners had somewhere to race. Either the engineer's forgot that people may indeed want to race these cars, after so much emphasis is being placed on "Racing" and "Competition" and "Motorsport" and "SCCA" and "The Original Z/28" and "It's Mission" and "It's competition".

Or, they ignored the rulebooks, most likely a decision based on finances and no real possibility of beating the Boss series models in ANY class. The Corvette is also a huge limiting factor.

The ls3 powered 5th gen can't even handle a bolt on terminator, let alone the ls1 powered catfish.

Who cares if it was a special edition supercharged 4.6. Its still a 4.6 and its still incredibly fast. Chevy tried supercharging the camaro and only succeeded in making a heat soak machine that runs high 12's on a warm day.

This happened many a time over the past 10 years...

Tell me I'm wrong... Is it low for Chevy to sanction a ZL1 in SCCA GTS while Ford put effort into the Boss program at the Ford Racing level? BMW made Ford step up their game, Chevy isn't steeping up to Ford.

What if the 2014 z28 can't produce a better time than the ZL1 at a long track like Nurburgring? It is impossible to match the speed of the ZL1 at Nurburgring, cornering, braking, handling and ride could all favor the ZL1 as well... Remember, the ZL1 is a one lap wonder, but that first lap is usually a very, very fast lap... If the z28 is down 12mph on the 3km straight, it will be hard to beat the ZL1's time... I think that's a 7-8 second loss right there... I'd have to do the math.

The ZL1 may produce a faster lap than the z28 after all. Now, on a shorter track, I don't think a ZL1 will do very well... The ZL1 had major trouble with the GT500 on half the comparisons on short and medium tracks.

I could say the same about the bowtie I guess...
Good thing I have an oval and no bowties in my driveway.

So, where are the numbers that winning makes selling a car easier and therefor in greater numbers? Why isnt the Mustang outselling the Camaro 2:1 right now? According to you guys that is what should be happening right? What is going on? Is Ford's marketing messing it up by not promoting the awesome winning record but instead the great V6 MPG or sticker packages (I did like that commercial a lot though)?

Why do we NEVER hear about the 302 success in SCCA in national ads?

No, it won't... The last time I had a good idea and mentioned it to Chevrolet, they crucified me. Did you know I had a Camaro5, feedback driven, fully rendered 2013 Z28 concept built for Chevy?

It flowed and rolled with curves and lines... It was tucked and nipped and tighter and leaner... It was meaner, had more grill area and was slightly shorter.

I wanted (and expressed this openly) that I wanted a 2013 Z28 before the refresh (they said I was insane) coming shortly after. It would have given the Z28 fans a '13 and '14 Z28.

No, No, No... It was pissed away. They were led into a dead end street fight with a 662HP GT500 (THAT I WARNED THEM ABOUT) with the ZL1. They are about to feed this '14 z28 to a very nasty GT350 (and possibly the GT-R could give trouble).

According to GM spokesman Monte Doran, the standard 2014 Camaro is arriving in showrooms as we speak, followed by the Z/28 in early-2014.

Ford is waiting for the Z28 to come out before they drop the GT350 hammer (according to a Ford source)

This could be more devastating than the '13 GT500 on the '12 ZL1. '15 GT350 strangles the '14 z28 in it's crib.

I see another "YOUR WELCOME" letter from Team Chevy.

They're sending those ugly fat lambs to the slaughter eh?

I can't wait to show one my taillights.

Pill... somebody keyed the gt and the focus st last week. Right across the hoods of both cars. Who would do such a thing?
