I am ready to pull the trigger on a Ford Racing Sport exhaust and have 1 final question for my brethren.

The Ford racing is 2.5" vs 3.0 of SW or Magnaflow. Is there a reason I "have" to have 3"? I will be installing a Roush SC within the first month FYI. I just don't want any regrets, I only want to buy 1 exhaust this time and stick with it, I went through 4 different exhausts on my 05' before I found the one I liked.

That said I want the Ford Racing but have to consider if 2.5" is going to hinder me in any way. Thanks for your help guys, I appreciate it.

Since you're going FI I'd put the 3" pipes on it, you're going to be moving a lot more air

by the numbers:
dual 2.5 ~500hp
dual 2.75 ~610hp
dual 3.0 ~735hp

of course, NA, turbo, supercharged all have slightly different sweet spots. I prefer to round down when choosing exhaust. I can hear the exhaust gases echo within large diameter tubing and it bothers me. [ame=""]www.youtube.com/watch?v=Sb-t5yoNrkc[/ame]

Just pick whichever sounds good to you. It will all work.

I really like the Ford Racing system.
I am definitely getting Roush stage 3 SC which will make ~675~ (estimated) HP

Your above chart says 2.5 for ~ 500 HP

Will this setup be ok in your opinion?

Thanks,
Jaime

You should be fine with a 2.5 inch setup. If you like the way the FRPP sound, I'd say go for it.

When you're ready for the Roush system, give us a shout:)

As of now I am trying not to but knowing me i probably will lol. Which is why I think ill be better off with the slightly quieter than Borla mufflers.

The factory headers are probably more of a bottle neck than the 2.5" system. Personally I'd stay with 2.5 if it makes the right noises, even after changing the headers.

Don't let the size of the setup hang you up.

go with what you really like. I prefer the 3", but you have to like what you have.

We offer great packages on the Roush Kits as well as the exhaust systems when your ready!

Nope. Do some aerobic exercise until you start huffing and puffing. Notice that your lips shrink the opening as you exhale. Try to exhale with your mouth wide open and you will know how an engine with too big of an exhaust diameter feels like.

It will all work, and work Great.

Even a 680hp engine stays below 510hp most of the time.

For example, lets say, 680hp supercharged coyote makes 510hp at 4,500rpm. Below that, exhaust pressure will be within normal performance range. Above 4,500rpm pressure will increase slightly. But I doubt it will drop peak hp by more than 5%. If someone makes 680hp peak on huge exhaust, reasonably sized (2.5") performance exhaust will do at least 650hp. I'll trade 15-30hp at an rpm used <5% of the time for good sound 100% of the time.

I'm not saying all big exhaust sound bad. Just seems like you and I both prefer Ford Racing's 2.5" sound.

I tend to ramble, sorry.
