19 vs 20 - why one or the other

I know a stupid question but......
Is there any benefit to either one of the wheel sizes other than if you have the PP you have to go with 20's with some of the maufacurers to clear the brakes?

What is the benefit of a square set-up vs staggered other than true rotation?

I think it more of a customer's preference. You can run 19s to get a lighter wheel
but the tires are more money for the 19s than the 20s.I think the 20s look better , you can add a slight drop to the car and run the perfect tire sizes and fill in the wheel gap.

You can do 19s and have rhem use your factory tires there are some options that work great.

Let me know !

Or you can do 20s upgrade to a specific brand you like and wider tire selection as well.

NOT NECESSARILY TRUE. Take a quick look at Discount Tire. Michelin Pilot Super Sport 305/30/19 $338.00. 305/30/20 $389.00. But you might have fewer size options (width and profile ratio) in 19".

Tazdevil there is a little more reasoning to why people go for 19 compared to the 20" everyone will have a different reason and is a debate that will go on for pages after pages. 19" will definitely be a weight saving and is more sought after for guys wanting a Motorsports look or motorsport track function, infact you even have guys like HRE who is always a reputable brand pushing on 18", this allows for performance tires that will grip on the track ( money here is usually not a factor) unfortunately you wont find many or any slicks or track performance tires in a 20" but plenty in smaller sizes. we at MRR Wheels are about to release such wheels in flow forge construction which will allow for 18" 19" performance sizes. thats also the reason the top Mustang GT350 and GT350R are set with 19" wheels although they can fit 20" they did 19" with a nasty performance tire ready to melt the asphalt.

and pauls reason is also one of the other best reasons . buy some wheels keep your factory tires save some mula.

I vaguely remember this being discussed in another thread, but what is the ideal profile/aspect ratio to run on the 19" and 20" for the S550? I've noticed 35 or 40 for the 19" and 30 or 35 for the 20".

You are correct all depends on the rubber and the size your after.
