Will a 2018 complete housing assembly w/gears fit/bolt in the 2015-2017 S550? Guessing they didn't change anything, just want to ask. Did the manual transmission pinion yoke stay the same? I see the 2018 PPs come with 3.55 and a torsion, thought this might be an okay upgrade to get away from the trac-loc that came on my '16.

I don't see why not, the axles and most everything else in the rear is the same. Not sure about the man pinion yoke though. I think the only difference for the drive shaft was the trans end though so it may be the same. Probably easy to swap over regardless. Hopefully someone who knows the answers for sure will chime in. Having both a 15 PP with 373's and the 18 with a trac loc 315 I can tell you I prefer the trac loc for street duty. The torsen was a little noisy at times especially on slow tight turns sometimes even feeling a little less then smooth when pulling hard right or left slowly out of a parking lot. Torsen is supposed to be best on a race track though. I did like the extra zip it had with the 373's but the 18 has a bit more torque to make up for it.

I didn't know the 18 had a different driveshaft, interesting. Funny, I've gotten this far in life without swapping a pinion yoke, still trying to avoid that for some silly reason, I have it in my head it's difficult/tricky to tighten it down correctly. Thanks for mentioning the noise and behavior, didn't know that either. I have had a Detroit Truetrac in my jeep for 15 years or so and it's never behaved weird, was hoping all the helical gear LSDs behaved as well.

My jeep came with a factory clutch style LSD like the GT and it was tough to grab one tire and slip the clutches until after like 40k miles. On my mustang I can grab a tire and spin the LSD a lot easier (and that's with smaller tires to grab hold of as well as only 15k miles on the thing). Was hoping it grabbed more, and thought the Torsion might be an economical fix. I DD my GT and love doing little straight pulls whenever the opportunity presents itself, I don't was the behavior to be something I would think of as a downgrade.

Thanks again for any input.

I purchased a 18 rear differential to put into my 17. I understand the driveshaft is going to be different and therefore need to change the yoke to accommodate MY driveshaft. Can I simply buy a yoke and torque it on? Does doing this require an new crush sleeve and all the headaches involved with it? Will an auto transmission yoke work on a MT82 car? As I look them up (to purchase one) I have found some sites show the same part number (MT82 and auto).

Thanks

The 15-17 had different sizes for the auot and manual pinion flange. The 18+ auto and manual both have the same size pinion flange as the 15-17 auto.
