Is the ford performance ecoboost calibration worth it. Also can you run the tune with a different cai and not use the air filter in the package?

Depends. If you are under warranty or not.

If you are under warranty - yes it 100% is (though you will only get 3 years/36k miles but based on your profile - looks like you will be past that)
If you are past the warranty - its still a good tune, but probably more conservative than others out there. If power or customization is your thing - you can find better options.

The tune improved my car. Really improved my 10R80

Gotcha. So basically the 36k miles/3 years is from when the car is first bought new, not when I purchased it. So at this point since the ford performance warranty can’t cover me and the tune would still void the gold certified warranty I have it’s either go big or go home. Right?

Pretty much yep. I got it for my 22 ecoboost since I wanted to keep the warranty, but yoloed it on my GT and went aftermarket tune

Something to consider, the OEM Powertrain warranty is 5/60.........I wish Ford offered it for a 2022 GT because my transmission could use a good tune. I've debated saying screw the warranty and buying an aftermarket tune but its tolerable.

The FP tune does only have 3/36 warranty but that does not necessarily mean the 5/60 or in your case since you have the 7/100 CPO that you are out of luck, it depends on if the dealer or ford determines that it was the FP tune that caused the failure, if that's the case then yes you will be SOL. It does have a revised trans shift strategy that improve the 10r80 shifting greatly.

Also just realize that on 18+ eco mustangs you cannot return to stock calibration yourself, only ford dealer can reflash back to stock calibration for a charge.

It really improved the shift logic. The transmission is much less confused as to what gear it needs to be in at any given speed or rpm. It also greatly improved the downshifting.

On the stock tune, my transmission could never decide what gear it needed to be in - always hunting and changing its mind (even after several re-flashes, retraining, and techs inspecting the car) and the stock downshifts were too harsh - like getting rear ended harsh.

Honestly, the FP tune makes the transmission behave how you would expect an automatic to behave. There was just something fundamentally wrong about how the stock trans tune was programed in my opinion. I digress, I am sure you can find several posts of me complaining about the 10R80. With the tune, I am much happier with it.

Hey Austin, if you're not looking for a crazy all-out custom tune, the Ford Performance Calibration is a great option. As others are saying, it optimizes shift schedules and gives you a nice boost in HP and torque. You don't need to use the included air filter, the air filter/intake you are using does not make a difference when it comes to the calibration.

You can check out the Ford Performance calibration on our site below, just let me know if you have any questions about it!
