Bought my 16 GT premium with performance package back in September, special ordered this car back in June. Vehicle has 4,600 miles on it. Driving to work on Wednesday felt a stutter getting on the freeway and boom check engine light, pulled down to the shop and had multiple misfire codes. Started it up later that evening to head home and CEL started flashing, upon pulling codes again found more misfire codes including cam and crank sensors. Left it at work, had a coworker drive me home.

Long story short, I have had a horrible experience with the few dealerships I've contacted trying to get this issue resolved. As it sits now the vehicle is at a local dealership that can not fix it and who will not provide me with a loaner vehicle, their rental rates are insane ($34.95 per day + 15cents per mile). Ford customer service center is unwilling to help me other then filing a complaint against the dealer.

I work as an ASM at a dealership and I am just beside myself at the lack of effort and or care any of these dealers and the ford experience center itself has shown. I know if I treated my customers the way Ive been treated I would have been fired. I understand things like this happen, its just the lack of ownership of the problem and the lack of good customer service that drives me up the wall. I really at this point can not see myself ever purchasing another Ford product.

I seem to be having a similar problem with my vehicle, don't have the problem with the dealer yet. I am new here not sure how to direct you to my thread, but please if you have the chance check out my post. Good luck. By the way my vehicle has been in the shop since I purchased it on the 2nd of January. Has only 133 miles on it.

Sorry you are having such a bad experience with your dealer. I wish that was never the case but unfortunately, it is at times. Hope you get you car back soon.

Problem started Wednesday? This isn't much time and this sort of problem may not be a fast fix. You should give them a week before getting impatient. At least they are time limited to 30 days, due to lemon law. If it makes you feel any better, you can review some of the lehto's lemon law videos on youtube. Hopefully you won't need that info.

There is a TSB on Alldata for this problem. Your service department should know this, if they don't maybe mention it to them and specifically direct them to the TSB. There is a list for the tech to follow eventually leading to cam phaser replacement.

Do you have access to post the TSB here so these guys can print it and address it with their Dealers?

It seems anymore that the Forum finds out about and has the appropriate docs or knowledge to fix things than many of these Ford Service Centers... I think that is what is upsetting most folks when you would expect the FSC to be armed with the latest and greatest TSBs or tech info.

I googled this topic a little more, and I don't think its all that exotic. It's part of the deal with the modern DOHC VVT engines. Dealership service center should be all over this.

Let me get this reviewed for you, boostshinobi. Please PM me with your VIN, dealer, mileage, full name, and best daytime number.

Was updated today. I was told the Bank 2 Timing Chain Tensioner has failed causing the chain to jump two teeth. The advisor stated he really didnt know much and if I wanted the details I would have to talk to the technician. Parts need to be special ordered, dealership will not provide a no charge rental.

I am concerned the chain jumped two teeth, I bought this car as a daily driver with little to no plans for modifications so I have not done much research on the internals. Are these engines interference?

Deysha I will PM you my info.

Why the heck wont they give you a rental? My car was in the shop for nearly 6 weeks (also for engine issues) and I had a rental basically the entire time. That Elantra cost Ford $1200.

can't comment on the no charge rental. I am not sure what industry norms are

sounds like one of these chain related parts went bad. Hopefully it won't take long to get the new parts in so they can start work

Was updated again today by the advisor, was informed via voicemail. He stated that some of the parts are on back order and is unsure of when they will be available, most likely the end of next week at the earliest before my car will be worked on. He also stated that I should secure another means of transportation.

Hi,

Check the top of the pistons for valve kissing. Request borescope image. If no damage, continue with replacing tensioner/adjuster. Have them check for broken chain guides as chain slap may have occurred.

Check for chain noise on startup once job is completed.

Thanks,

I don't like the see the words backorder and unsure. It's already been a nearly a week. While you are waiting, I would start investigating Lemon Law, such as this video: Lemon Law Basics - Lehto's Law - YouTube
