Don't forget the mid engine boss 429 prototype or the Boss-Shelby mustang that was never finished due to Carrol Shelby leaving Ford in the middle of the project.

Ya I think I remember reading that it was supposed to be destroyed but one of the engineers took it and it hasn't been seen since. Would easily be a $5 million car if it was sold. That is why the 69 fastbacks have quarter scoops and not the 70. Those were supposed to be the intakes for the engine. After they scrapped the project they got rid of the scoops for the 1970 models.

Actually the side scoops were left off after Larry Shinoda ditched them on the '69 Boss 302. Only 69 Sportsroofs to not have them. Ford took up the idea as a cost cutting and styling revision for 70. The LID was a Kar Kraft project, with nothing to do with Carroll who was long gone from Ford by then. Another interesting car from this era was the Quarter Horse, part Shelby part regular Mustang. Buer Reynolds drove one in the TV series Dan August

Man, those are a lot of really FUGLY concepts. I'm not very creative but I swear I could come up with something better than most of those. Where does Ford get these designers from?

I feel like their design budget must have been really low for the Mustang even back then.

1970 Mustang Milano concept car. Featured in a Motor Trend article from 2013. Some styling ques made it to the 71 model year. Though the body line along the side is damn near a copy of the 1970 Challenger.

Dang that looks sick! The 71-73 are the least popular body styles. If they looked like that then it would be super popular.

IIRC, it was also slated to be the first production vehicle with a sub 10 second 0-100-0 time. That's beyond insane, even today. While it would've been awesome to have, street tires and era TC wouldn't have been able to do diddly squat to control it, and people likely would have died. Look at what was happening with the Vipers, and that was with less than half the power, 80% of the displacement, and 335 tires on the back.

I want one even more now.

I would buy the wagon. I love the idea of having a sports car that I can stuff bikes and other large objects in the back. My 3rd gen Trans Am was great with that huge hatch back, my brother and I would put two mountain bikes back there and go drive to the trails together.
