The 2015 Ford Mustang has been named the Official Car of the 2014 International Consumer Electronics Show (CES) and the American automaker will be debuting new technology features to open up the event.

As the official car of the show, which starts on January 7 in Las Vegas, the 2015 Mustang will be on display in the Grand Lobby of the Las Vegas convention center. The Mustang convertible will be on display at Ford’s main display area in the North Hall.

The American automaker will announce new technology features for the Mustang at CES including the upgraded SYNC connectivity system, MyFord Touch, appLink, intelligent access and track apps. But Mustang enthusiasts will be more interested in the advanced driver-assist features including launch control and adaptive cruise control. Ford will also be sharing more details on the blind spot information System, individual tire pressure monitoring and MyKey.

Rumor has is that the new Mustang will also feature a burnout control, essentially a system that ensures a perfect smokey burnout every time. If this a reality, it will likely be announced at CES.

“Mustang has always been more than just a car, as it reminds us of the freedom and joy that comes from traveling the open road,” said Jim Farley, executive vice president, Ford global marketing, sales and service and Lincoln. “With world-class performance and innovative technologies wrapped in a sleek design, the all-new Ford Mustang puts you in control of the driving experience that suits you best.”

7th January is my birthday. I think Ford should at least provide me first class flights and accommodation!

Not my birthday but I'll take one too :)

I guess that's why they held off on announcing that secret OEM feature. I'm still hoping its something other than the burnout control.

I'm pretty sure they are just guessing what it could be.

Someone on here has said it's going to be some kind of OEM first in the industry. If that's true this would definitely not be it.

My money is on that burnout control feature.

As much as i like burnouts id highly doubt it , id say it would be more a electronic thing being that it is announced at an electronics show, some new sorta tech.

I think the media day is today so I would expect some kind of announcement from Ford. Not positive on that tho. I also hope we get to see a different car/color that we haven't seen yet.

Personally, I think this story is even more interesting and noteworthy than the data recorder:

Looks like GM (along with Audi, Honda, and Hyundai) are teaming up with NVidia and Google to bring Android OS and all its customization and apps to the automotive world.

Disappointing that Ford is not one of the automakers involved as I love Android and think the sky's the limit in terms of future improvement and integration.

WOW, man, Dave Pericek and his team need to pop this into the Mustang for sure (if they haven't already done so - but haven't released it).

I work with Mercedes MBrace mobile apps powered by Google, and I can easily say it's something I can live without. Besides being slower than a mobile device it is very tedious to use and doesn't really improve the car ownership experience in my opinion. When using the system it seems like nothing more than a glorified points of interest.

If they really want to generate somthing interesting, they can make a system to clone your phone and functions into the car's audio system and give the drive full voice control and feedback without slowing down the vehicle's onboard telematics system. Mercedes has something to that effect in the new CLA and subsequent telematics generations than can clone an iPhone on the vehicle's central display and allow use of certain apps and online browsing with voice control. No need to learn how to use another potentially complicated mobile device.
