Hi guys!

I need y'all's help. I've had a whining noise for while now and I brought it to Ford last time and they told me it was due to my tires being bad. They quoted me about $1600 for new tires and alignment. I told them I will do it later it's too expensive. Here we go. I ordered 4 brand new tires last time and mounted them + alignment at Firestone. Unfortunately the whining/squealing noise is still present :frusty: The noise is coming from the front end of the car is now doing it every time! Cold or Hot doesn't matter. (When I start the car it's not making the noise, when I put my car in "P" and rev it's not either). It used to be when I drove from 25mph and below. but now I can hear it at 60 (a little harder due to muffler noise). You can hear it more when the windows are closed though. I thought it could be a wheel bearing but they "Supposedly" checked and didn't see anything wrong with my wheel bearings. I finally was able to take a video of the noise at low speed (I was about 15-20mph). Anybody has an idea of what could it be? If I put my car in sport and WOT when it's passing the gear it's makes like a dump valve turbo kinda noise lol (I have a V6). I have a feeling it could be my Drive belt... But wouldn't the drive belt makes that noise at idle too though? I tried to drive a little faster and pass it in Neutral and it's still making the noise. I'm lost... I did couple dealership but I had issues with them. (One rip me off "Maxwell Ford". Thank God I had a dashcam and I got my money back. Even though my car is still warranty). Leif Johnson Ford will take 3 month to look at my car. Riata refuses to give me a rental. And Bastrop Never bother to call me back or wanna take my car in... Is there anyone here that knows a little bit about mechanic and whiling to look at my car around...? :hail: I almost lemon my car because of Maxwell Ford It took them 4 try to fix my tranny and now I have this engine/wheel noise... :frusty:

Alrighty, I might have an idea of what it could be... Let me know what y'all think about it.

Yesterday I was in downtown and on my way home my car started to heat at a redlight. It was at 203F and it jumped to 210-223-227 then light passed green and it started to cool down again. When I arrived home I let the car idle and it started again. From 199 it reached 229 and fan kicked in and lowered the temp. (It was 70F outside last night). My inlet air went from 88F to 120F as well (at the redlight and my house). This morning I made 2 videos (Link below). One will show the squeaky noise again and the other I decided to check my pulley and found out that my water pump pulley is moving/clicking when I move it with my finger. Could all of this be related to my water pump...?:shrug:

PS: 2 weeks ago I saw my level was a little bit under the minimum for my coolant. I went to Autozone grab a 50/50 coolant and adjusted the level. I don't know if this information could help...

Any technician who told you it was your tires making that noise should be beaten with a lead pipe.

Has it always done that? Before or after any modifications? It sounds like a metal-on-metal rubbing noise that gets quicker as you accelerate. Does that noise quicken if you rev the car in neutral? Should have somebody outside listen to it while you do it. Assuming you have the environmental system off?

It started doing it when I reached about 30K from time to time. I'm at 50K now and it's at all time :( The only mod I have is the GT exhaust and I had it for a while already. I checked it and it's not the exhaust system. It doesn't do it when I'm in Neutral and rev. It does it only under load. When the windows are closed you can hear it more than if it's opened. Now even if I open my windows I can hear it from time to time (Even with the music on...).

Well you had mentioned the pump, but if it's not doing it when revving in neutral, I don't think you'd hear it then...? Which would indicate it being a part that moves when you do. If it gets faster/slower as you speed up and slow down....maybe something in one of the wheels? That's really loud if it's from the wheels and you hear it inside.

I thought about being a wheel bearing but they checked it and "supposedly" they didn't find any bad bearing. I'm just SOL right now... They fixed my tranny after 4 times bringing in to the dealer. Turns out to be 3 dead solenoid. :tsk: I don't know if it could be linked to that too...? I guess I can try to change the water pump and go from there? Or do you think it's not that...?

PS: My muffler are kinda loud so maybe that's why I don't hear it at idle?

If it's the water pump you should be able to tell by listening close to it with the engine running and hood up. Then have someone rev the engine up & down some while you're got your head down close to the water pump to listen for changes in the noise.

It's funny you're mentioning it. When I swapped my tires at Firestone I thought they messed up my alignment. I always drive with Sport and it felt like I was in Normal mode... Still now a little bit. But then again I went from stock tires which are 235/50/18 to 265/30/18 :D

So... I checked everything and I can't find nothing at idle or even when my wife rev the engine. It really happens only under load from what I can tell. Also, I've noticed that my engine is heating pretty fast as idle. I never passed 220F during summer at 110+F, Right now it's about 86F outside and it goes up to 227F. 2 weeks ago I bought in Autozone some 50/50 coolant before a little trip from Austin to Houston. I didn't notice the car heat to much... Could all of this be related?

Quick update: The car has 2 brand new belts and tensioner assembly. Still making that noise. I've noticed when I changed the belt that the water pump was even more loose than when I moved it before. I tried to spin it and it made like a rough little noise but no squeak. I'm dropping off the car this Thursday. Any idea if the water pump is included in the power train warranty? I have 51K and my power train is still good until 65K.

Just saw this post and thought I'd chime in. Your water pump is definitely on it's way out - I just replaced mine a couple months ago and this happened to me around 59K. Simple fix, the revised waterpump kit also comes with a replacement radiator to engine vent hose (which now has a check valve on it)
