Do you have an indentation/dent on the flat surface above your rear fender(s)?

Added poll to see if having a indentation(dent) on the flat spot above the rear fenders is common.

There's been a fair amount of users reporting the same dent that I posted about, which I initially (and still think) my Service Manager accidentally put on my car.

Well, I thought I had a good experience today with my dealers Service Manager after he took pictures of my defective window trim.... Until I saw this

He was leaning on the car to try and get the best angle possible to show Ford the trim issue, and I'm guessing he applied too much elbow pressure or something. Needless to say, I'm not happy. This is pretty sad, I take my car in for a factory defect and am awarded with this potential headache, with all the potential for denial on his part. I know it'll never look perfect anymore, assuming the dealer takes ownership.

Now I have to worry about anything that touches this "fart and dent" exterior.

Where's the dent? I'm having a hard time identifying it, is it that section above the trunk where the reflection bows in?

In any case, if they don't fix it/take responsibility, you can potentially just use one of those "ding king" tools that suction out dents. I used it on my old car to pretty good effect. Works perfect for "smooth" dents.

Edited the picture to highlight the depressed area.

Had to believe it would dent that much from someone leaning on the car. Didn't think the metal is that thin on these panels. Were you with the car the whole time? If not, maybe something else happens that cause the dent.

As others have said, paintless dent removal would be the way to go.

Yeah, I was with the car the whole time. I really should have said something about him leaning on it as much as he was, but I figured he knew what he was doing. My father and I also can't believe the metal is this malleable and I'm not about to try replicating the scenario. I know the dent wasn't there before this mornings appointment. I have pictures that I took of the trim peices, which can be seen on my other thread about the weather strip ripples, which show no indentation or bend in the reflection.

I know he didnt do this on purpose. So long as it gets fixed and fixed right, I won't have a problem.

In any case, I wanted people to see just how fragile the aluminum body panels are on these, as well as vent about this.

Only the front fenders and hood are aluminum. Rest is steel, and that's why I was surprised leaning on the rear quarter panel produced a dent.

Just reached up in there and there's some bracing that blocks access to the dent. Thought the whole care was aluminum, good to know the rest of the body is steel. Apparently thin steel.

I'll just have to see how he handles this...IF he takes ownership of it.

Have them pay for dentless removal. I had a dent about that size and it was $60 or so on my m3. Looked 100% perfect afterwards. I have a dent like that in almost the same spot on my mustang. Ill snap a pic later. Doesn't bug me much though:headbonk:

I'm hoping he won't have an issue taking responsibility for it and paying for the dent removal.

Normally I wouldn't be so uptight about something like this. Its a car, and I know things like this will happen over time. But its the principle of the whole situation. I only have 900 miles on the car, about 200 of which are from going back and forth the the dealer (30 miles each way). I've been going back so much because they lost my 2nd key. So I had to go down to get a new one programmed, but they forgot (or didn't know) to order the metal key inside the fob. So I had to go down again yesterday just to drop the metal key off, so they could mail the metal key and the new key blank to a competing dealership to have the blank cut. They don't have that kind of key cutting machine. To make make the most of my trip I brought up the window trim.

So I'm mainly upset because this situation should never have happened. I shouldn't have had to put 1/4 of miles on this car just going to the dealer. I shouldn't have defective window trim that needs replaced. The service manager shouldn't have been propping himself up with his elbows when taking pictures. Any other situation (like something falling on the car) would be a bit more tolerable then this. Ive been gifted so much uneseccary aggravation for situations that shouldnt happen.

But not everything goes perfect and I accept that. While the situation shouldn't have occurred, the fact is that it DID occur and I just have go through the motions. Just hoping he takes responsibility, Ive just had way too many negative experiences with service writers and dealers.

Interesting. if several people do have it.. and someone mentioned there is a support brace welded to that section from underneath. quite possible it could be pulling the quarter from chassis flex or other reasons. Something like this was common on 4th gen f bodies in right about the same area but on the side above the wheel

I have had worse dents removed on my previous Stang by an awesome pdr guy and it looked like brand new. I know it's a hassle and I am sorry this happened to you but that can be fixed and you won't be able to tell it was ever dented.
