GT owners, anyone else start to go sideways when you floor it...

When you're simply going in a straight line, already going between lets say 20-40 miles an hour.

Traction control is always on so it catches itself, and yeah this is only when it's a little wet (not even raining, just damp) or cold - 4degrees celcius give or take.

Cars back end will begin to swing out a bit. I understand there's a lot of power, but should that be happening? Wheel is pretty straight IMO...

No i'm not experienced in racing or anything, but just thought I'd ask

This is normal behavior for a high-hp RWD car. When that happens, let off the throttle or you'll end up in a ditch.

Pffff, try driving a fox body Stang with around 350 HP, then you are talking a very twitchy car. Best learn how to drive your car in a spirited fashion in a somewhat controlled evironment. A track, emply parking lot, deserted road. Somewhere so that if you loose it it won't end bad.

I am slowly testing the boundries of my 15 so that I will be ready for the road course this summer. Coming from a hopped up 05 GT, I am having to relearn a lot with respect to the handling of my new ride.

Word of advice, respect the car and don't get cocky!

Seriously though - Mustangs have been doing that since their inception in 1964!!

It's an ass-light front-heavy sports car / too much throttle on wet roads is gonna get you not only sideways, but possibly spun around if you're not used to a torquey Mustang (or sports/muscle cars in general).

It's my first real performance car, but I figured as much! And of course I let off the throttle and learn my lesson that I gotta be more gradual, was just making sure I wasn't having some alignment issues or something. Thanks!

It's rotational physics... A torque is created along the axis of rotation of a spinning object according to the right hand rule, which is if you wrap your right hand fingers in the direction of rotation, the torque pulls sideways along the axis in direction of your thumb. It's like when you hold a bicycle tire by the spindel and rotate it, it is harder to turn the wheel one direction than it is the other, because torque is either helping or hurting. It's why oval race tracks always only go counter clockwise. Also why it is less comfortable to turn your bike to the right than to the left.

The rear alignment is factor, and it should stay pretty straight in dry conditions on good pavement. Mine wanders a bit side to side in the dry, but doesn't get too sideways unless I'm turning slightly.

When things get even a little slippery, I think you need to use some good judgement and not rely on the alignment to keep you pointed in the right direction.

These v8's with high hp/tq and rwd are monsters and will get you in trouble if you're not careful. I've had my fair share of oh s*** moments already since I bought mine last August. I traded in my Toyota Corolla which was a completely different car.

Pirelli Zero's? if yes combine that with cold temps and they'll spin at any mph given enough throttle

Getting out of the throttle in the middle of a power slide will almost always end in disaster unless you catch it super early. Sometimes just letting the back end hang out and stay in the throttle and steer out of it is best. I have seen all too many drivers on the track and in videos get off the throttle and the car snaps the per way. I had a guy behind me on a road course do it at about 95 mph and destroyed his Mustang on e front stretch wall. It was real bad.

I have a tune on my eco and have to watch turning when it first rains... roads are slippery then. First time it happened, I woke up quickly. Been several thousand years since something like that happened to me (been in Honda accords since the 90s).

Did it the other day at a busy intersection... I was trying to get through quickly and hit it... I looked like an ***hole.

Have to be very careful... but it does catch itself when you let off the gas a little. I can see getting in trouble when the ice/rain mix hit...
