Has anybody actually gotten a solid answer as to why the V6/Ecoboost has a such a low limiter compared to the other versions?

It is my understanding that we S550 V6 owners got a 8MPH bump from the out going model limiter.

It can't be tire speed rating because you can get the 18 wheels that the V6 on the upgraded package on the V8. So what gives on the such a low speed rating.

I ask because, I recently tuned my car and took the limiter off. Torie did a great job!

Almost certain some combo of tires (liability concerns) and warranty.

There is another posting on this topic already. EB PP has a much higher top speed limit.

In any case, re. 130 hp, don't do that :headbonk:

although given your username, and location, I am wondering if you are the Ford version of Breaking Bad. In which case, do it. But please run a dash cam, and capture video and link here, to help spice up the lives of us more "boring" Mustang owners

I got Nittos now which are rated at a higher speed rating now. I don't want to ruin my baby but it is fun to mess with the 5.0 guys every now and then.

It is tires, pure and simple A tune will remove your limiter and you are good to go
Here is me doing 270kph (167mph) on my Dash cam
[ame]

And the fastest I've gotten before someone got in my way is 282 kph(175 mph)
0 issues.

The 18's on the V6 and the 18's on the GT do not use the same tires.. all the GT tires are rated for 150mph+

My EB Base with the 19'' wheels and stripe package comes with 255 19' Pirelli P Zero Nero's all 4 corners.. I dunno what the limit is on mine but it's gotten up there into the 20's.

At least you're running where this speed is legal and for the most part safe. I hate when I see guys on the streets in the US doing that kind of shit when the other cars are going 60-70 MPH.

^ THIS

try pass a guy doing double his speed, he may be texting or distracted, or simply under-estimate your speed and abruptly change into your lane at a very inconvenient time. No amount of Brembo 6-piston is going to save you (and the other driver) from a very ugly high speed crash :headbonk: :eyebulge:

This person's location is Germany. I'm assuming Autobahn, in which case it is legal on certain stretches of the autobahn to go flat out

Maybe there should be a law saying if you get rear ended in the passing lane, you are 70% at fault. Then let's see how many people hog the passing lane or cut people off in it.

Yes it is tires. Next limiting factor is cooling, but that's far higher.

Varmint on AutoBahn?

At 170 mph...you should have at least an auxiliary alternator to supply current for your extra 5000 watts of head lights. Your speed is about 5 times faster than your headlights can give you a view ahead.
