This morning I went to the Lingenfelter Collection Open House in Brighton, MI. Outside the event was a 2016 Camaro. It appears to be a high mileage evaluation vehicle as it did not have an 'M' Plate. Here are a few photos that I took comparing it to both a previous generation Camaro and a 2016 Mustang EcoBoost.
My hats off to GM because if they did do the weight reduction they are claiming, the car itself is not much smaller than the previous generation, although GM has indicated that the 6G is shorter is several dimensions.

By the way, it anyone puts the snake eyes on their headlights they should be bitched slapped.
This was a nice feature, the fender stripe, although hard to tell from the photo, it has the new Camaro logo embedded in it. Although the '00's are calling and they wants their fender stripe back. Not good GM Styling.

Here is the comparison to a 2016 EcoBoost. My comments are based on being a Ford slappy.

In my opinion, this view is the biggest difference between the M6G and the Gen 6 Camaro. The S550 looks much wider and lower than the Camaro. The Camaro still has the C class car look to it, narrow and tall.

Will it sell? Who knows, but I believe from a general consumer standpoint the car is not dramatically different that the prior generation.
