I am being told by my ford dealership that its bad to switch gears at high rpms, I never go over 5k when I shift is that too high? From what I read the power is at the high rpms. And if its being driven like that how often does the oil need to be changed? My dealership is trying to tell me that I will be held responsible for the engine if I don't stop driving it the way I do. And they told me my oil was only 2qts when they drained it, but the engine is not burning or having blue smoke out the exhaust, so where did it go? and that Im using the wrong weight oil..how when I purchased the oil kit from latemodel restoration all oem 6qts oil and filter did the oil change myself, only 2,000 miles ago. http://www.latemodelrestoration.com/item/LRS-6731R/2015-Mustang-Ecoboost-Oil-Change-Kit-Motorcraft I check my oil regularly and it was at the top dot before I brought it to the dealer ship for no acceleration, check engine light, hard break pedal, flashing low oil pressure light, and metal noises from the engine. I feel like they are trying to trap me if the engine blows and make me responsible for the cost to fix it. I have records of all of the oil changes. This is a leased car so I can see why they wouldn't want to replace the engine. I need some advice guys please help!

It obviously isn't too high, that's what you have rev limiter for. Now your symptoms sort of point to low oil - are you sure you were checking it regularly ?

yes, the day before I had it towed to the dealer I checked the oil level. I cant imagine the car burned 4qts of oil in 2,000 miles without something else being wrong with the car. Thats what I thought about the rpms, since when was it not ok to change gears from 4-5k? I never bounce them off the tac. they tried to tell me they could tell how high I get the rpms up every day and its not good for the engine. The car had 9,200 when I changed the oil and it now has 11,800 in that time it lost 4qts of oil? I hardly drive it that hard peel out here and there and never track it. Why would the dealership lie to me about how much oil was in the car?

Don't let them try and scare you. Yes they know how you drive and shift every day just like I'm sure they'll tell you what you had for breakfast if they look in the toilet. Something is wrong with the car if its burning through that much oil but they are full of shit.

Thank you for being on my side.

He didn't seem too concerned about the oil being low (because it wasn't) and they want to charge me to do a pressure leak check on the engine because they say everything is ok now that the oil is at the correct level. and it would cost them money and they need a reason to tell ford why they are doing the pressure check to get reimbursed. You would think if it was burning or losing that much oil they would want to do more tests on the engine? instead they say we will do a 1k mile oil check whatever that means..some how they are going to monitor the car somehow for 1k miles and see if its losing oil.

Take the car to a dealer that knows what the fuck they are talking about.

Some of these horror stories you guys experience with dealers is downright ridiculous. I wrote service at my previous dealership and I would NEVER say any of this absurd shit you guys hear. I apologize, if you were closer I'd have you bring the car to me, and we'd get you taken care of.

Yea that's complete BS. The oil thing is obviously an issue but the dealership cannot tell where you shift. I would check that you sealed things up properly after changing the oil. I thought I just recently read a thread where someone got their oil changed and they left the drain bolt loose

With the stock tune power falls hard after 5000RPM on your EBM, you may not want to go much past 6000. The car is engineered to go up to the limiter, just don't keep bouncing it off of it.

Also, if you did the oil change... What type of oil did you use, and did you check for leaks?

you need to monitor your oil consumption, try shifting around 3.5-4k rpms anyways when getting up to speed, you don't want to be driving it hard all the time. You wont see the blue smoke because the cat is masking it. If it was 2 quarts low the oil light would have come on most likely.

Thanks for all the replies. Greatly appreciated. I used this kit to do the oil change http://www.latemodelrestoration.com/item/LRS-6731R/2015-Mustang-Ecoboost-Oil-Change-Kit-Motorcraft

They told me only 2qts came out of the engine.

I looked everywhere for oil leaks and could not find any. The oil light never came on just the low oil pressure warning message pops up, when at a stop light mainly when the rpms dropped.

Now if they give me the car back in working order and the engine blows completely I don't want to be held responsible because they way the service manager is talking I will be.

If the engine isn't using the oil internally/no smoke coming out of exhaust, it sounds like a leak. Have you looked at your filter area/drain plug/pan gasket/etc?

I understand wanting to change you own oil (did mine on monday) but if you leased a car from a dealership that is giving you a hard time about your oil level after you changed it, just let them do it and take responsibility if anything happens. Sounds like they're trying to dick around so don't give em' anymore leverage than you have to.

Thats the thing the oil was not low, I swear to god that the oil was right at the top dot when I had it towed to them. I dont know why they are lying to me about the oil level, like I dont know how to check it, thats the first thing I did when I started having the low oil pressure light come on.

here is a link to my original post about my problems with the car

The engine's in a freakin' Mustang, better be engineered to take that kind of driving...I can see where the dealer would make an issue of it if you were taking it up to redline every time you started from a dead stop, but if you're only occasionally having fun with it, that's what it was built for.

Apparently not according to the service manager who drives a dodge charger....I never redline the car ever! highest is 6,000rpms on accident. I says to the service manager these cars a built to be tracked how can you tell me I am driving it too hard? He says what you've been taking it to the track? No I said... and he says if your going to track it you have got to change the oil more frequently, judging by your back tires you drive it hard which is ok but you have to change the oil more often. Agreed I just changed it 2,000 miles ago and its jet black. wtf! and I dont track it, a few 0-60 pulls thats it, and my 0-60 is 6.0 seconds stock not that good.
