agreed, and I hope ford reads this. they have done a very bad job, IMO, on the combination and structuring of features per trim or options on the 2015+.Pretty useless package since it's not available with Premium models.
So many people want the goodies but hate leather and Ford keeps on ignoring them.
the shitty thing about the drive modes are that they don't default to the last one selected when you turn the car back on. wtf, even the new STI does this. for 2016 this should have been fixed.Completely agree with you svtfever on the drive modes being in all the PP equipped GT's. I never even looked at a premium car so I didn't know it was a thing until a week or two after purchase. The salesman at the dealership were useless, virtually knew nothing about the Mustang and this was something I experienced at all 5 Ford dealers I visited before pulling the trigger. IF one of the salesman had shown me what I missing out on besides just leather I may have considered spending the extra $3k for a premium PP car, lost up-sell on their part.
If anything, the drive modes are more appropriate for the non-premium car that is likely more going to be enthusiastically driven or taken out for some track time, crazy.
This is what happens as a model goes through it's cycle.sat in a 2016 today...funny but the cup holders bothered me. plastic inside with 2 prongs to hold drink instead of the rubber inside with 4 to hold the drink...weird but for some reason it looked cheap to me

Ford looks to find ways to cost-cut and you end up with a cheaper interior.
I've always said....we all know that buying a first year new vehicle can be risky, but the first year new vehicles always get all the higher quality materials and designs, while the following years get cheaper and cheaper quality.
I wouldn't be surprised if there are quite a few other areas of cost-cutting, including reduced or removed sound deadening material in certain areas.
how do you have leather recaros in a base? You have to understand it from a manufacturer's point of view. Very few people pick and choose options the way you are describing. Most people want the car fully loaded, or not at all. The Mustang, as popular as it is, isn't a volume leader like the Fusion or F150, so in exchange for giving us this incredible performance car on a dedicated bespoke platform, we need to make some sacrifices.
I happen to think the base GT is an incredible deal. It included pretty much everything I wanted and the options not included were things I could live without. Even the base V6 to me has a terrific level of kit for the price. I also think the Premium trim is a bargain as well for what you get. For $4k (or only about $3500 with credit union pricing) you get all the options of a high end luxury car. Heated and cooled seats? As much as I like my Recaros, I really wish I had those here in FL. Nav is included, when some manufacturers charge $2k+ for it extra. Better stereo, leather, etc, its a really good deal no matter how you look at it.
Ford saves a ton of cash by simplifying the trim levels. I am surprised we get the option of the PP on the Premium car, that seems more complicated than its worth. It should only be offered on the base car. I got lucky, I got a base GT with PP and Recaros and my seats ended up being leather. To me its the perfect combination, actually several people have asked how I got it that way so they could replicate it. Ford could drop the PP from the Premium model and just offer a leather Recaro option for say $2400 instead of $1500 for cloth ones.
