At first glance, I'm thinking "what different seat pattern ??"

But looking again I see it ... very minor, but yes different !!

I actually really like the throwback pattern in the cloth seats now. The only thing I would add is the running pony emblem on the door inserts. I really appreciate that minor detail.

Although 2016 package a nice interior, it doesn't really blow me away.

Pretty useless package since it's not available with Premium models.

So many people want the goodies but hate leather and Ford keeps on ignoring them.

agreed, and I hope ford reads this. they have done a very bad job, IMO, on the combination and structuring of features per trim or options on the 2015+.

1. you used to be able to get leather w/o navigation or screen.
2. why the F... are drive modes not tied to the PP (huge mistake) this should have been standard or tied to the PP since it is a performance mod.
3. I feel that trim levels are not combined properly and ford is forcing you to spend thousands of dollars extra to get things like drive mods or this and that, like leather, even though a lot of the combined features ppl may not car about.
4. heated cooled seat should have been an extra option.

im just venting but had the trims been stacked properly, it would have saved ppl money on going premium and then they can add in the options that ppl want and ford would not loose any money.

for example, id have a premium GT PP with no screen (so base system), leather with no heating or cooled seats. I could care less about half the stuff in the premium trim

or a GT PP base with drive modes (as it should have come IMO)

I feel like you could customize a fusion better than the new mustang.

maybe a mid trim car would have been better- GT w/ PP and drive modes, standard base radio and leather. save the touch screen, accent lighting and ponies under outside mirrors, and heated cooled seats for a limited (higher) trim.

Completely agree with you svtfever on the drive modes being in all the PP equipped GT's. I never even looked at a premium car so I didn't know it was a thing until a week or two after purchase. The salesman at the dealership were useless, virtually knew nothing about the Mustang and this was something I experienced at all 5 Ford dealers I visited before pulling the trigger. IF one of the salesman had shown me what I missing out on besides just leather I may have considered spending the extra $3k for a premium PP car, lost up-sell on their part.

If anything, the drive modes are more appropriate for the non-premium car that is likely more going to be enthusiastically driven or taken out for some track time, crazy.

the shitty thing about the drive modes are that they don't default to the last one selected when you turn the car back on. wtf, even the new STI does this. for 2016 this should have been fixed.

the plus is that you can still do everything in the base car that drive modes offer, you just have to select your traction control and steering separate. the one thing you miss out on is throttle response, but a 200 dollar jms throttle plug and play kit will fix this. plus you can have better throttle response in your default or base start up every time without having to constantly select drive modes every time you start the car.

I feel like I could work for ford and fix what they keep messing up. maybe by 2025 they will get it figured out. at least sync 3 is a step in the right direction

This is the same package that dealers love to charge 2 and 3 thousand dollars over MSRP for on so many base cars. It's really nothing

I honestly think those wheels are the best available.

It looks to me like those seats are the same as what will be in the GT350 w/ Tech package, except covered in leather instead of cloth.

Anybody know for sure?

This is what happens as a model goes through it's cycle.

Ford looks to find ways to cost-cut and you end up with a cheaper interior.

I've always said....we all know that buying a first year new vehicle can be risky, but the first year new vehicles always get all the higher quality materials and designs, while the following years get cheaper and cheaper quality.

I wouldn't be surprised if there are quite a few other areas of cost-cutting, including reduced or removed sound deadening material in certain areas.

Yah it's such a little detail but it bothered me. I always liked my cup holders :)

You have to understand it from a manufacturer's point of view. Very few people pick and choose options the way you are describing. Most people want the car fully loaded, or not at all. The Mustang, as popular as it is, isn't a volume leader like the Fusion or F150, so in exchange for giving us this incredible performance car on a dedicated bespoke platform, we need to make some sacrifices.

I happen to think the base GT is an incredible deal. It included pretty much everything I wanted and the options not included were things I could live without. Even the base V6 to me has a terrific level of kit for the price. I also think the Premium trim is a bargain as well for what you get. For $4k (or only about $3500 with credit union pricing) you get all the options of a high end luxury car. Heated and cooled seats? As much as I like my Recaros, I really wish I had those here in FL. Nav is included, when some manufacturers charge $2k+ for it extra. Better stereo, leather, etc, its a really good deal no matter how you look at it.

Ford saves a ton of cash by simplifying the trim levels. I am surprised we get the option of the PP on the Premium car, that seems more complicated than its worth. It should only be offered on the base car. I got lucky, I got a base GT with PP and Recaros and my seats ended up being leather. To me its the perfect combination, actually several people have asked how I got it that way so they could replicate it. Ford could drop the PP from the Premium model and just offer a leather Recaro option for say $2400 instead of $1500 for cloth ones.
