So I'll be installing the JLT CAI this weekend and have a question about the blow-off. At least initially I will probably just cap the blow-off on the JLT. If I like the sound I might keep it that way.

I have a question about any potential performance hit doing this. I read last fall (forget where) that one of the ways Ford reduced turbo lag was to use recirculate the released air allowing it to build up faster. If I cap the bypass will it create a little more turbo lag?
Is there any performance hit to do this or anything negative?

There's no hit to performance or any negative effects from letting the BPV vent. I have this intake and have been running it vented for a while.

Did some digging online. Looks like my understanding of how it worked was wrong. Ignore this... looks good to go.

It's actually a performance gain. Since our BPV is located on the hot side piping, it's recirculating hot air back into the intake, resulting in higher IATs.

One more question. When we cam the blow off on the CAI side, do we just leave the tube loose or remove it?

In all sincerity, it sounds much cooler recirculated. Plus, you will discover that under cruise the bypass opens up and starts venting... and that is really annoying.

I'll try it both ways and see. It's pretty easy to do so I don't mind having it off and if I don't like it I can always reconnect. I just want to make sure I do the removal properly.

It DOES sounds much cooler recirculating? I capped mine from day one so wouldn't know.

Typically if a BOV is venting under cruising conditions you would need to make sure the positive pressure lead is connected properly, if so, tighten the spring if it is adjustable. The positive boost pressure is what holds it closed under load, and then the spring is what should keep it shut under normal cruising off boost.

If we are talking about the stock setup, unfortunately I have not seen the motor well yet to know if this is do-able until I get my own car soon.

Maybe Mike thinks it's ricey to VTA lol?
It depends on what sound you prefer. I have always liked that "flutter" style release, which sounds more like compressor surge. With it vented open, all you get is a PSSST sound, with it recirculating through the JLT, you get a very audible flutter. It really does sound much cooler to my ears. It is all personal opinion.

Ive stated this on a few threads and was dismissed lol. If you have the stock bvp going vta when you are cruising you most certainly will hear that thing open and go on and on and on.
