It has been 3 weeks now since I upgraded to the Gibson Performance cat-back exhaust and I think it's time for a review. When searching for an exhaust, it is very hard to make a decision when prices are so different, styling plays a factor, sticking to what you know, and most of all not being able to truly hear the sound of the exhaust unless the car is right there to hear. Well I was lucky enough to not only see but hear this exhaust right from the Gibson car itself at SEMA, and let me say that I was instantly sold! Not only does it fill the rear exhaust valance perfectly with its 4.5 inch polished tips, but it has the perfect sound that I was looking for. The tone is low and doesn't grow to a crazy extent when driving on the freeway but has a great pitch when down shifting and hitting those high rpm's. Inside the vehicle has 0 drone, this is great considering Ford Sync is now standard. Installation was a breeze, should not take you any more than an hour to install. Now I do not have dyno results to back my next statement but this cat-back paired with a simple tune (does) give you tremendous results in power. I would definietly recommend this exhaust to anyone! It may be just the "Engineer" in me from way back when but the welds on the Gibson exhaust cans really caught my attention as being poor at best. I know that the mufflers themselves are unseen and we can go with that "function over form" thing but geeze, I would have expected much better welds than what I saw in the photos, especially compared to the efforts of companies like BORLA, MAGNA FLOW, ROUSCH, etc. I'm sure they sound great but think I'm going elsewhere. Great article but I'm just not overall impressed with the product.

Thanks for the write up and sound clips. Every time I hear this exhaust I really like the sound/tone, but it seams to be getting mixed reviews. A couple of people who initially went with Gibson, took it off and replaced with something else, complaining it was too aggressive sounding, especially at start up and WOT. After seeing your vid, it doesn't seam that way at all. In fact, the FRPP sport sounds more aggressive then this (at least on video) and that's been getting pretty good reviews.

Gibson is local to me, I wonder if anyone anyone that works there or their show car is available to hear in person.

Did it get quieter after you drove it more? How many miles do you have on it?

Been on my car for about three weeks. Loving it! The tips are perfect and have received a ton of compliments locally. It's tough to beat a stainless cat back for under 700.00 shipped.

Nice review! I ordered mine a couple days ago !

Do you had the chance to put the Gibson catback on a scale to see how light it is compare to the stock system?

That sure does have a nice tone. You say there is no highway drone?

to be fair, most of the ones you have listed are at lest 30% to 40% more than the gibson system. As long as the cans don't leak. leaves you with more cash for other mods :)

I love my gibson. That being said, it does drone on the freeway under 65-70 in 6th gear. Doesn't bother me though.
