I was just wondering how snappy off the line the car feels, with the stock tune. On my 2011 with the six speed slushbox, the throttle response from a stop was kind of sleepy and mushy. It did not respond like you'd expect for a 400+ HP ponycar. (A tune helped considerably).

I'm hoping with the A10 and the other changes to the 5.0, that it will be more able to deliver that kick-in-the-pants feeling you got with a cable-throttle V8.

I have the A10 with 3.55 rear. In normal mode, the throttle and transmission are numbed a bit to give the EPA gas mileage in normal driving. However, I can easily slide the rear with 30% throttle off the line. In sport+ mode the throttle becomes sharper and the transmission aggressive and the car hauls. I drove a 2017 GT with the A6 and walked away not so impressed. I waited for the 2018 GT and when I test drove it, was sold at how good the car feels. It feels all of its 460hp worth of fast :)

FYI, in Drag Mode there is no torque management.

Mustangs have had an electronic throttle since 2005. I got a tune for my 2005 Mustang GT specifically because of the poor throttle response of the factory tune. The custom tune really woke the car up.

Mine was a bit sluggish in regular drive mode but since the Lund tune that has been remedied.

Agree 100% with the above sentiments.... my 2018 EB PP w/3.55’s also hauls ass when in Sport mode and I came from a 2016 EB PP w/6R80. Although, I can’t complain about driving in normal mode either, as that also has faster pick up and when you mash the throttle, there’s really no delay at all when it downshifts and rolls through the gears. There is NO comparison between the (2) transmissions, the A10 is by far the better transmission and a ton more fun!

For those who have NOT driven a 2018 w/ the A10... go do it and drive it like you stole it...then report back. Also to note, it’s an adaptive transmission, so it learns as you drive it and adapts to your driving situations.

The 2011-2014 A6 was terrible compared to even the 2015-2017 A6 (tuned differently). The 2011-2014 GT A6 suffered in 0-60 and the quarter compared to the manual (4.5 0-60 on the manual, A6, I THINK, is around 5.1-5.3) whereas the A6 on the 2015-2017 ran the same or better than the manual when in sports+ or track mode. I previously had a 2013 GT A6, currently have a 2016 GT A6, about to have a 2018/2019 GT A10 (and have test driven 3) - I can tell you, with confidence, the car is sufficiently "snappy" off the line, though you won't be thrown back in your seat till around 3-4k rpm (which is when the torque kicks in).

with the shifter in D mode you'd be hard pressed to know it has 460 hp but drop that shifter into the S mode and it's a whole different car.

I agree with all the replies in this thread even though, I have the 3.15 rear.

D mode should be renamed E mode for economy because that’s all it’s good for. I stopped using it after the first week once I put it into sport mode. And honestly gas mileage isn’t much worse. I wouldn’t say that acceleration is pin you to your seat off the line, but then again I haven’t really mashed it that hard yet. Sport mode revs much higher and obviously wants you to mash it, so it’s a little underwhelming in that regard for daily driving if you don’t mash it. But I still prefer it to regular drive mode because it is much more willing to downshift. I’ll push it a little harder this weekend in both sport and track mode and report back.

I forget what YouTube channel it was, but a stock 2018 GT A10 without PP & Magneride with the 3.15 gears still pulled a 12.0 1/4 stock... So... you're good! :ford:

Observation point: today was the first day warm enough for me to have enough confidence to really throttle up the car, so I threw it in Sport+ for a quick acceleration on a u-turn green arrow....... holy fucking shit does this thing pull like a freight train. Didn't even get to redline in 2nd gear to do speed, the 2nd to 3rd shift was rocket fast, the auto transmission is absolutely absurd once up to temp and rocking.

I don't have enough road to use all the HP!

My wife just bought an '18 PP GT with the A10. Previously she had a '15 V6 with the A6. She really does not like the A10 and feels the car is difficult to drive smoothly without unnecessary jerkiness. For me, the jury is still out.

I am a manual transmission guy so I admit to being somewhat predisposed against an automatic transmission. Having said that, during light throttle driving the trans does seem to continuously cycle and frequently seems to be in the wrong gear. I have experienced the jerkiness she dislikes and while playing around with the various drive modes can reduce it, it is never completely eliminated.

I wonder if there is an issue with her car specifically or if this is similar to what others are experiencing.

Just a question to those out there with the A10.

Otherwise, she absolutely loves the car and wanted one for a very long time so I would like to see if there is anything to do differently to make her driving experience with the A10 better.

My GT is smooth and quick in D and normal drive mode BUT it requires a very smooth steady throttle foot combined with "squeezing" on the gas.

The hardest thing to be smooth with is the PP brakes in slow speed gentle driving.

FYI Assuming D shift mode and normal drive mode squeezing the throttle does allow the transmission to avoid many of the "wrong gear" downshifts. The car will still be FAST but much less jerky.
