Mustang World's Fair Grounds 50 Years Celebration at Flushing Meadows Park

Happy 50th Birthday Mustang!

Today, Ford held an event at the site of the original Mustang introduction at the 1964 World's Fair grounds located at the Unisphere in Flushing Meadows Park in Queens, NY. Hosting the event were Ford executives, Raj Nair (group vice president, Global Product Development), Moray Callum (vice president, Design) and Elena Ford (vice president, Global Dealer and Consumer Experience).

There were also hundreds of Mustang club members with over 75 classic Mustangs to help commemorate the 50th anniversary and compete for best-in-show -- the honor going to David Davidson, an owner of a blue 1967 Shelby GT500. As a prize, Mr. Davidson received a very cool keepsake, one of only a few 2015 Mustang models built to test colors (in Race Red).

Here are our pictures from the event and the Competition Orange 2015 Mustang GT on display. We will have the full video of the press conference posted shortly.

We also had a chance to speak to David Principato (Marketing Director, Ford Brand). A few tidbits from him:

• Official specs will be released within the next 3 to 4 weeks.
• Ordering guides are still being finalized.
• Only top volume Mustang dealers will be allocated the 50 Years Limited Edition Mustang.
• When asked whether automatics will be able to be purchased with the Brembo package and/or dash gauges, his response -- Ford is not releasing those details yet.

OK, thats not bad news… I can quit whining now

They probably chose to hold off on the specs to make sure discussion of that wouldn't distract from the 50th celebration. Also the usual BS about not tipping off the competition.

Another comment, this is literally the first picture where CO looks good. It's a weird color to be sure, but in sunlight I like it

I have noticed that brembo is a different color from car to car... Color matched perhaps?

I've only seen black calipers with white lettering.



EDIT: I think the Track Pack/Performance Pack cars come with dark grey calipers with red lettering and the basic Brembo package/Anniversary package comes with black calipers and white lettering.

That looks like orange or red brembo lettering on the CO above

The yellow and silver PP/TP cars both had the same dark grey calipers with red Brembo lettering. The Anniversary package being the one with black calipers and white lettering.

Thank you on the specs information. I can wait the 3 to 4 weeks since they have officially announced it and are not kept hanging.

So if order banks open on the 20th as I've seen this has been changed to, we can expect the specs and pricing by that date at the latest. Good news.
