It probably wouldn't be worth it unless you plan on being reckless with the tuning. There are a lot of ppl tuned on here and the only blown engines I've seen are tuners pushing their own cars too far and some guy with a boostmax, pedalmax and most likely a tune at the same time as having an oil leak

Getting off topic again, sorry. I think if you are really concerned with breaking you should put aside a couple grand to replace the engine before you start modding. A small investment for some peace of mind. If that's not an option then you might want to think twice about modding. I've replaced mod motors before and it gets expensive, thankfully it wasn't my daily or I would have been screwed.

I understand that aspect, and that's why if I'm going to tune my car I'm going to get Adam's custom flash, but if there is a way just in case something happens with the car a defect that was already there but only started causing problems after the tune, I'll have that safety so ford won't say the car is tuned and ur out of luck

Yeah, no idea why... DRs should've blown his street tire times away. Anyway, it was my first time ever @ the track, I'm addicted. Everyone should do it at least once.

PS: I can't believe what Adam is doing on the stock turbo car, crazy.
No, I went back to the pits after that run. Lonnie never swapped his tires out. All those black SVE type wheels look the same...

I swapped over to my DRs after the first pass. 12.87 @ 107 on my street tires, leaving at maybe 1-2 psi. It did lay down a 1.87 60ft on them though. After that 13.1 @ 108 first pass on the Nittos, I settled it down a bit. Ended up with a 12.78 @ 107.8 best pass, which happened during the crappiest DA possible...lol. Car makes zero sense how it responded to the worse DA. Hoping to go back on the 25th for some better air, with a better tune.

I don't want to change the topic of this thread, but i feel like this question is related and i created a thread but no one has responded.

so if ford can detect a tune, an ECU cost around $700. So why not just buy an ECU and tune and swap it with the stock ECU, and everytime you go in to the dealership you put the stock ECU back in the car.

Can someone shed some light

The ECU like the other major control units is coded to the vehicle by VIN and other coding measures(SCN, etc). Simply swapping control units won't allow it to communicate with the other units like traction control/ABS, EPAS, SRS, trans(if auto), and so on. Without being able to communicate with the other control units the ECU won't have a start-enable signal and the engine won't run.

I don't know of anybody other than a dealership that can do this. I'm a Benz technician and this is one of the methods used to prevent theft, both of the entire car and its major components.

I would absolutely love it if someone who works for Ford could chime in with EXACTLY (if not somehow screenshotted) what they see on their end when they hook up using their gear.

I see this discussion in so many threads, but Ive never seen it with any actual concrete information.

This entire thread has been cleaned up. Sorry about the delay.

A few people have been warned privately but this goes to all - stay out of this thread if you are posting in this thread just to bash or talk about how much better (you think) your car is. Not going to warn again - the next person to derail this with nonsense and name calling will have their accounts suspended. Carry on.

haha, yes they do. Looks like a few guys are going back out on the 25th, you should come. We need to do a few more pulls. Although, I will have a downpipe.

Not possible, the ECU's are coded to the body control module which has the immobilizer controls. The dealership would have to code the ECU to the car, and that would defeat everything you are trying to do.

you are right it counts the number of times your cranked the engine, but if you have your stock and never flashed it or reset it, that means when you put it back in it will have all the info before you swapped the ECU
It counts the key cycle, not the crank.
