  1. 2020 GT500 results from Car and Driver Lightning Lap 2021

Forget the $18,000 sticker to sticker delta between a GT500 CFTP vs ZL1/1LE. Most folks purchased their GT500 at massive ADM's over sticker. Put that into equation and the GT500 'value' quotient 'on track' becomes non-existent. The Camaro still has the leg up with the brilliant Alpha chassis...
  2. 2020 GT500 results from Car and Driver Lightning Lap 2021

+$18,000, +110HP, +CFTP goodies and the best it could do was 0.4 seconds against a 2 year old A10 ZL1/1LE. Goes to show how superior the Alpha chassis is. Also notable that the GT500 with all this firepower only set the same time as a +5 year old C7 Z06. This proves GM is king when it comes...
  3. Car and Driver Muscle Car Showdown: 2020 GT500 vs ZL1 1LE vs Challenger Hellcat Redeye

Well this thread has gone to hell already. I am all about public discourse but the S550 platform has itā€™s strengths and weaknesses. The GT350/R is the sweet spot but still has room for improvement compared to the Camaro + Alpha platform with respect to the chassis. Letā€™s be thankful we...
  4. Car and Driver Muscle Car Showdown: 2020 GT500 vs ZL1 1LE vs Challenger Hellcat Redeye

What's telling is - here's a car 3-4 years old that is close to $20k cheaper pushing performance times that beat or match the CFTP GT500. The ZL1 1LE is short on power by 110hp compared to the GT500. Regardless of whether you are a fan of GM or Ford, collectively we should tell those...
  5. Car and Driver Muscle Car Showdown: 2020 GT500 vs ZL1 1LE vs Challenger Hellcat Redeye

Here's the complete stat sheet with test results (w/o road course lap times).
  6. Car and Driver Muscle Car Showdown: 2020 GT500 vs ZL1 1LE vs Challenger Hellcat Redeye

Nope. Car and Driver is renown in the media world as being the most fair and balanced magazine out there (even Jason Camissa said their testing parameters are the best in the industry). You will not have to worry about 'shot tires' or any of that garbage with Car and Driver. Manufacturers...
  7. Throttle House puts the 2020 GT500, Camaro ZL1 and Challenger Hellcat Redeye on the track

Gosh, people are still harping on about the TH video. GM just announced the C8 did 7:29 (DCT) at the Nurburgring. For reference, the base ZL1 (Auto) did the exact time a few years ago at 7:29 as well. Meanwhile, just over 2 years go a 'Manual' ZL1 1LE officially did 7:16 at the Ring...
  8. Throttle House puts the 2020 GT500, Camaro ZL1 and Challenger Hellcat Redeye on the track

This thread has essentially nailed the five stages of grief - denial, anger, bargaining, depression and acceptance. Can the mods close the thread now?
  9. GT500 vs ZLE

Indeed. Just like the Nurburgring Record by 991.1 GT2RS and GT3RS were on Cup 2 'R' tires which by the way customers do not even get on the production cars. Those R tires were made in an extremely limited batch and 'available' for sale outside of their production cars. I remember AMG, Corvettes...
  10. GT500 vs ZLE

Wow. That's a new low. Randy has said time and again how much he loves the GT350/R and GT500. The man fires up the track unlike anyone else regardless of the brand marque. You can't go around accusing someone as respected like him. Ford loves him so much they specifically asked that he run...
  11. Throttle House puts the 2020 GT500, Camaro ZL1 and Challenger Hellcat Redeye on the track

I think we all need to see the C7 ZR1 vs the CFTP GT500. Both Front Engine + No Rear Seats + Track Aero + over 750hp + Automatic Option (Available for the C7 ZR1). Same philosophy. I mean the ZL1 1LE is short 110HP from the CFTP GT500. The ZL1 1LE also has 'back seats' for what it's worth....
  12. GT500 vs ZLE

Can we all just say 'God Bless America' for giving us all of these options. We live in an amazing time. The GT500 is an excellent car and so is the ZL1 1LE and Redeye. Different strokes for different folks. At least we are all not forking over $100k for cars that can't keep up with the...
  13. GT500 vs ZLE

I am sure we will all find a test where all will be measured on equal footing. Till then, enjoy the GT500! It's a hell of an engineering feat!
  14. GT500 vs ZLE

Exactly. Randy's comment at the end about the 10mph advantage in the 'straights' would be null and void if BillyJ's suggested install of front wicker and increased angle of attack in the rear materializes. More aggressive aero means - more drag. That would hurt the GT500 in the straightline...
  15. GT500 vs ZLE

You are basing it on one picture at a weird angle? Randy Pobst and Jason Camissa don't screw around. They are both huge fans of the GT500. Just read the Motortrend story that Randy wrote up if you need proof. The customer provided ZL1 1LE was only on 'Street' alignment. This was verified by all...
  16. GT500 vs ZLE

Proof? Here's my proof from Throttle House.
  17. GT500 vs ZLE

Jason Camissa has a great relationship with Ford and is always upfront about the intended usage. His last use of a similar car was well documented in the Carmudgeon episode. PSC2ā€™s were assessed by Throttle House, Pobst and Camissa in the morning of the test to ensure it was good to track. All...
  18. Throttle House puts the 2020 GT500, Camaro ZL1 and Challenger Hellcat Redeye on the track

We live in a great time where cars like the GT500 and ZL1/1LE exist. Personally, I would take the lighter and more agile GT350 as it offers a driving experience second to none (also thanks to that amazing Voodoo + Manual). Aero packages aside, the key thing here is after all the bells and...
  19. GT500 vs ZLE

This was a car provided BY Ford. The ZL1 1LE was provided by a viewer and was on the basic ā€˜Streetā€™ alignment. GM didnā€™t get a chance to tinker with the car and dial it for more negative camber. The GT500 was dialed in by Ford to the ā€˜Trackā€™ alignment so no excuses there. This was verified by...
  20. Throttle House puts the 2020 GT500, Camaro ZL1 and Challenger Hellcat Redeye on the track

Well, the stock GYers on the ZL1 1LE are the worst tires in a drag race. They are like hockey pucks for the most part. This is a testament to the chassis and kinematics of the ZL1 1LE and that transmission. The ZL1 1LE on softer tires like the PSC2 could be more potent.
