  1. GR340 - Down and Out

On some limited production cars the VIN is stamped on the block and sometimes the tranny. My '70 Boss 302 was one example. Normally replacement motors do not have the cars VIN stamped on them. The '03 Cobra may not have been done this way, I couldn't tell you.
  2. Oil filter not torqued properly from the factory?

I believe the "blue" material you're referring to is actually Permatex, not Loctite. As a teen I plugged a radiator with Permatex when replacing a water pump, lesson learned the hard way. I'd prefer a safety wire solution, but I don't think a drop of blue (not red, red should be illegal, lol)...
  3. Recall and Immediate Stop Sale on 8,026 GT350 and GT350R Models: Engine Oil Cooler

Just a thought ... is this something that could be adapted to AN fittings and replaced with braided steel lines?
  4. Recall and Immediate Stop Sale on 8,026 GT350 and GT350R Models: Engine Oil Cooler

Anyone know if we are supposed to park our car until Ford figures out how to install an oil line? Mine is affected ... going in for an oil change and will ask them to look at it. Maybe tug on the lines and visual inspect? :frusty:
  5. FR Passenger Catch Can Install

IIRC, the previous design was prone to crack in that location, hence the change.
  6. ITLRUN's HR186 Journal

Screwed is putting it mildly, lol. I had this happen on an older Mustang and I would add blued and tattooed to your screwed. :headbonk:
  7. TP spoiler to trunk holding push pins

Our local NAPA store has a large assortment of Dorman push pins and can get many more.
  8. Spark Knock

Back in the days before ECUs existed when we built or modified an engine we couldn't just set the timing with a strobe light on the harmonic balancer. We would advance the timing (by rotating the distributor) until the engine started to knock and then retard the timing until the knock...
  9. MY VOODOO IS USING OIL !

Bro', I feel for you. When this first started I was still waiting for my car ... I've since received it and with almost 1K miles I haven't used a drop of oil. Ford needs to step up and take care of you ... c'mon Ford!:paddle:
  10. Spark Knock

91 is the best we can get here and I've never heard a hint of detonation in mine. I'm nearing my first 1K on mileage and couldn't be happier, no worrisome noises and no oil usage. If I had to complain about something it would be panel fitment, but mine's probably better than most.
  11. Denied claim ?

Damn dude, don't you ever sleep? :D
  12. How to check oil level properly

Seriously, this ain't rocket science, lol. Try to always check the oil level when cold before starting, the 15 minutes mentioned is to allow the oil to drain back if the engine has been run and is a minimum waiting time. It doesn't matter which side of the dipstick you read or which side is up...
  13. What is your oil temp ?

Those numbers look normal to me, mine runs 200-210 and doesn't really climb much when pushed, though I've not tracked the car, only street use. Extended track use would probably push these numbers up some, though with 10 qts of oil it would probably take a while to get very much hotter. There's...
  14. What is your oil temp ?

    ^^^^ This.
  15. What is your oil temp ?

What's your temp reading in Gauge Mode? Mine shows a slightly lower number than the analog gauge, 205-210 normally.
  16. Piston slap poll

Lol, I got 60K worth of 5.2L FPC. :ford:
  17. Piston slap poll

If you're correct it's unlike any piston slap I've heard in the past. It's not a rattle or metallic sound. It's more like the sound you make when you "hush" someone, an airy sort of sound, maybe air box noise?
  18. Piston slap poll

It appears I'm the lone "No" vote so far. Yes, I'm very aware what it is. I've had numerous people who are knowledgeable car guys look at it, mostly drag racers and hipo street car people and none of us have detected any noticeable signs of piston slap ... if it's there we aren't hearing it...
  19. Ford to build FPC VOODOO till 2020

I've been following this and I agree, I hope they build enough to justify plentiful OEM parts availability as well giving the aftermarket folks a reason to invest in making parts for these cars. A couple of examples are the shortage of brake pads and replacement engines and trannies.
  20. Warranty Engine Replacement - No Oil Pressure

Does anyone know if this was resolved in the '17 model, or does it apply to them also? I think mine are fine but I'm going to check them to be sure.
