Hi all
I've just landed in this boat. No idea what the past owner did to these lug nuts but I have about 3 on the way out now, one which is pretty chewed up. I just went to the local dealership to ask how much for x20 new lug nuts... £96. I kindly declined.
So reading through these posts it...
Thanks! I don't recall my previous S550 having this issue either. I've been eyeing up some DBA T3 4000 series discs and their Xtreme performance pads to go with them. But £1,133 ($1,479) is big chunk of cash!
Hey
Just doing some bits to the car today and finally had the rear wheels off.
Both rear discs have noticeable ridging on them, which I can feel with my finger. No lip on the outer edge of the discs and pads seem to have plenty of meat on them.
Fronts are similar but not as defined.
These...
I caved and paid people to fit my Steeda IRS kit and rear braces. :giggle: What a difference. Noticed the improvement in handling straight away. I'm doing my rear vertical links tomorrow.
Hello lovely people.
I had a Golf GTI with me today and I couldn't get any distance between us. Perhaps I was expecting too much? What do people think? I pulled up some specs which as far as I can tell are correct:
Mustang GT (10 Speed Auto UK)
Curb Weight = 1,693KG (3,733lbs)
BHP = 444BHP...
Apologies if this sort of topic had been asked before I did try and do a search before posting. I have 3 ton stands.
I also was reading CJ Pony and where they say to put stands on the S550. So I think I'm clued up now.
These are what I'll be using  -...
Thanks hah yeah I do tend to get ahead of myself. :)
I get what you are both suggesting. If that is safe and what most people do then I'll follow your lead.
Appreciate it.
Ah sorry so you place the stands on the same jacking rail also. Not underneath the car. How do you handle the v shape of the axle stand on the flat jack rail. I always thought the v shape was like that as the axle goes in the groove.
Do you happen to know the specific stand locations?
Thanks! So when I jack from the middle of one side and slide the two stands under, where exactly do I place the stands? Sorry haha. I guess one goes under the rear axle but what about the front?
Thanks again.
Total n00b question I know. I feel embarrassed just asking. :giggle: If I want to work under the car safely and easily, where is the best location to put the axle stands. Is it as simple as "anywhere on the front and rear axle"?
Also, is there a way to jack the front and rear in one go to get...
Cheers all. I'll check out the CJ vids. I don't have a garage so it would be done outside on axle stands if I had to do them myself. Could be fun I guess. :cwl: I'd need to buy two more axle stands as I only have 2 currently.
Thanks! That's what I kinda thought, there is no drilling, the braces go into pre-existing holes (if I understand correctly) so surely 15-30 minutes tops. OK cool - I'll make sure to speak to one of the actual technicians doing the job when I get there.
Steeda goodies arrived today. :) "Made in USA" :like:
Tuning shop near me is fitting the full IRS kit on Saturday. I'll tackle the vertical links myself.
But I wanted to check with you knowledgable folk on here... the bloke on the phone (sounded non-technical) said it would take 3-4...
Weather picked up. So quick wash and wax to get all the salt and grit off. Week before last = hotter than Spain. Then this week just gone = 0ºC and snow. 🤪
And the sun came out for the last one. 😃
But I do have some parts coming soon! Steeda rear vertical links ordered along with...
Ohh nice! Is it as easy as it looks (I was reading the Steeda instructions the other night). I've just purchased a new Wera 60-300Nm 1/2" torque wrench to help me with this job (as well for using on the wheel studs). :) The vertical links and subframe alignment kit are on my list.
