Hey

Just doing some bits to the car today and finally had the rear wheels off.

Both rear discs have noticeable ridging on them, which I can feel with my finger. No lip on the outer edge of the discs and pads seem to have plenty of meat on them.

Fronts are similar but not as defined.

These have been on the car since I picked it up second hand, and the car is now on 19k miles.

I had some extreme ridges on my 19 at less that 5k miles. Had pads and rotors replaced under warranty, they are smooth now still at 41k.

Thanks! I don't recall my previous S550 having this issue either. I've been eyeing up some DBA T3 4000 series discs and their Xtreme performance pads to go with them. But ÂŁ1,133 ($1,479) is big chunk of cash!

That's usually the outcome of a crap lathe job bedding into the pads but at 19K I can't imagine somebody turned them already. It shouldn't hurt anything but it doesn't go away unless you replace/turn the rotors and replace the pads in my experience.

I have the same thing on my '16 at 20k. My fronts are nice and smooth but my rears look the same as yours. I'm hoping it doesn't have anything to do with me upgrading my front base GT brakes to the PP ones? (But that was about 6 yrs ago) My brakes seem to be working fine 🤷‍♂️

Ceramic pads suck. They are great for longevity and low dust, but they chew rotors like a Beaver.

A high quality true Semi-metallic is what I put on every vehicle I own.
