Ah ok thanks. Stunned at how little everything else does to pull the performance together. But this makes the list shorter and more obtainable. Headers and e85 tune.
So I'm in the process of planning out my build and have doing a lot of thread reading. I am seeing a lot of N/A guys saying after doing
LT headers
C.a.i
9x tune
Mani
And throttle body
They are at 45x plus who but car feels slow or not a big difference than what they started with. So I'm just...
This is my thoughts. Down to the T. I've been ignoring all the useless opinions to try to keep negativity away from the thread. But it's a bit hard to understand why one who doesn't have a helpful opinion or a positive way to voice why they wouldn't do it, would spend time and energy voicing or...
Ah okay, hopefully when I'm ready to pull the trigger, the results of this new truck mani are out so I can make a decision.
Ah okay, yeah my car sees 0 time at the track or strip. I'm like 80% city 20% highway. My only fear now is doing a hard pull and hitting 6k and dropping. Which at this...
So the f150 18 truck mani is better than the 15-17 gt stock mani and the 17 truck mani. So if I were deciding to remain with a stock mani would it be a bad idea to consider the 18 truck mani? Has better numbers and it doesn't fall as hard after 6k as the older truck mani or the stock gt mani.
Ah got it thanks. I spent the last few days hunting for opportunities to do some high revs. So far, I got one in by dropping it to 4th, the car shocked me to put it lightly. And I'm actually looking forward to the next hard pull. Any tips would be greatly appreciated.
Stock without a tune the rev limit is 6800 correct? So the f150 mani is 6500 before it falls flat. Would a tune fix this or at least get the mani up a few hundreds? I'm hearing the test on the f150 mani was tuneless.
Yeah I understand it's hard to see why one would do something that's in a whole different direction than what it was meant for. And thanks for everyone who shared helpful insight on the matter as well, its helped me see alternative and options. I'll lay things out and see what build helps me...
I'm thinking if I do 3.73 gears I'd definitely go 18 mani and Lund tune.
Lol 4.10s are never on my radar. That sounds to snappy for me.
Lol my thoughts.
So even with a tune the f150 mani revs out at 6500k? Sheesh.
So its look like if I go f150 mani then I may only hear to 3.55 to 3.73 if...
Nice I may just head that route of 3.73s as well. I'll do a lil more research before pulling the trigger
I appreciate your advice on this for sure. And you tried both and ultimately went with the 18 mani? That says a lot. Also with you getting the f150 mani and still was looking for more...
Got it, so I'm thinking gears and tune cai, sounds like things like lt headers and 2018 mani with add a benefit for top end only. F150 mani helps at the bottom but will kill my top end and that's were the engine shines is what you guys are telling me. I may have to do some spirited driving...
Lol I hear you man, idk if ita just the 3.15s or what but by the time I'm up in rpms it's time to slow down and has taken a bit of time to get up in rpms.
So with a tune I could pull to about 7k? That actually isn't bad. By that time I'm sure I'd be slowing down. In my city it's really not much time to use the power. 90% of the time its light to light. Every once and a while on a beach trip I'd get to do a good pull close to 6 or 7k but never...
Ah got ya, who did you go with for your tune? I had a bama tune years ago and did not like it. Thinking lund this time around.
Nice! Do you ever notice the car feeling like it doesn't want to pull and accelerate anymore?
I can admit sometimes going WOT on the highway can be a bit of an eye opener as to how much power the car has. So your thinking passing up the mani altogether and just go for the tune?
I actually just thinking that I may have to try revving it out to see what I'm missing.
Got it, so my...
Reading a lot of comments on other threads I get that drivers spending 90% of their time below 5 or 6krpm seems to not be common. I'm just looking to see if the trade off of the f150 mani losing power at 6 or 7krpm is causing passing power issues at highway speeds and if it's just an utter fail...
No not at all, I think the longest pull I have is getting on the hwy ramp and getting up to 70 mph. Even when I'm doing spirited driving, I'm never above 6000rpm
