  1. ATTN: 2016 Base and Tech Coolers (Limp) Owners

You've unfortunately joined a growing club. Please register your complaint, so that this remains a pressure point for resolution.
  2. so is Ford going to develop a tranny cooler for us 16 tech/base owners?

Cats are a source of heat, but it's the relatively compact size of the transmission and its positioning high up in the isolated--and therefore insulated--tunnel that causes a lot of heat retention. Lot of dead air up there and no ability for it to radiate away.
  3. Track Pads (Brakes Pads that is)...

I thought the Super Blue was discontinued? Anyway, from my experience, it's hard to beat the Motul RBF 600 @ $16-$18 per bottle, depending on where you buy. There's also RBF 660 for a bit higher price. Excellent fluids.
  4. Track Pads (Brakes Pads that is)...

So far, most folks with a number of track events on this platform have not reported problems with the OE pads. That's a broad cross-section of tracks and skill levels of course, but it's a good testament for the pad. In the thread about the release and use of the GLOC pads (not the group buy...
  5. Track Pads (Brakes Pads that is)...

They remind me of Hawks (DTC 60 and 70) and the reason why I'm done with Hawks. What a mess!
  6. Track Pads (Brakes Pads that is)...

Chin is an awesome group, and I am currently scrambling to prep my Tech Pack for an event at WGI with them (as an instructor). I'm with you on safety equipment and tires, and I know for a fact I will regret not having a better seat and harnesses, but, that's where things are right now. And...
  7. Track Pads (Brakes Pads that is)...

Using the GT350 as a DD is a great thing, not a problem! While trying to remain respectful of the purpose of this thread--consolidating info and getting more support for other high performance compounds--we shouldn't ignore the performance of the OE compound. They are great pads and work...
  8. Track Pads (Brakes Pads that is)...

At present, I'm 95% street, and run the car year-round. The OEs are a great pad for this use, and are a really good pad for typical HPDE driving, even at advanced speeds/duration, though they do wear quickly under heavy use. Also, OE fluid and lines have not yet been shown to be weak points...
  9. Track Pads (Brakes Pads that is)...

So, I race in a different platform and run exclusively on PFC. I'll step up and pay the price for their compounds every time and don't even think twice. Awesome product! But, the GT350 isn't a race car for me and I'm not interested in swapping pads for the--so far--occassional track day...

You haven't seen the group buy thread for GLOC pads?
  11. Not to scare you guys

Does anyone have a brand or part number for a cap-style wrench that will fit our filters? It's a 14-flute filter, but I'm not sure of the diameter measurement. Thx.
  12. 1st Tech pack With Trans Cooler!

If you were on Summit Main, that is a very fun track, and the GT350 is well-suited for the layout; very well suited.
  13. Track Day Starter Kit

If I may be so bold . . . Did you drive your Tech during the track event? Did the Tech setup cause any problems that detracted from your enjoyment of the event or impeded your driving? I'm asking relatively open-ended questions for a reason. I've been driving on track for quite a while, and...
  14. Track Day Starter Kit

Assuming Track Pack, I will say here what I say every time someone gets into track driving: with this car, you do not need to do anything. Period. You do not "need" to change from the stock fluids, pads, lines or tires. You do not "need" to change the factory alignment. Over time, if you...
  15. 1st Tech pack With Trans Cooler!

Well, I'm kind of a terrible mechanic, but since I want to play with cars on track, I've been forced to get a clue and some level of skill. Stainless steel or nylon braided hose suitable for oil, coolant, gas etc. is readily available in a variety of lengths. I opted to get a 20' section of...
  16. 1st Tech pack With Trans Cooler!

Hose and fittings are available everywhere: Jegs, Summit Racing, Pegasus Racing, Racer Parts Wholesale, Speedway, Amazon, etc., etc. You may even find a good source locally to walk in and put your hands on the stuff. SVTDSM opted for 8 AN hose and hose fittings need to specifically match the...
  17. 1st Tech pack With Trans Cooler!

If I get all the parts in, I'll be tackling this project this weekend following SVTDSM's build. Thanks SVTDSM! I'm scrambling a bit to take advantage of an opportunity at Watkins Glen, so I'm jumping in rather than waiting for a Ford fix.
  18. Tech Pack Performance Question on Longer Tracks

I'm most concerned with the panel and bumper cover removal / reinstall. Everything else is relatively straightforward. I hope I didn't just jinx myself . . .
  19. Tech Pack Performance Question on Longer Tracks

The longer part of the story is that I lost the motor in my race/track car; it was time I suppose. So, in the mad scramble to see if I can salvage a great opportunity at WGI, I'm thinking of bringing the Shelby into action. I want to wait for the FP "approved" solution, but time and...
  20. Tech Pack Performance Question on Longer Tracks

Mosport definitely has lots of open, fast areas; a bit more than WGI I think. Thanks for the report.
