  1. What's the funniest/oddest/ignorant comment someone said about your 350?

Not sure about your skill level, but what did he say after you passed him?
  2. What's the funniest/oddest/ignorant comment someone said about your 350?

I got chased to race by a guy in an e36 (1995-1999) M3. WTF!?
  3. What's the funniest/oddest/ignorant comment someone said about your 350?

"You bought the wrong car", as stated by many a track pack or non-tech owner, opinionator, gadlfy, troll, what have you. Or, am I supposed to let all that nonsense just die?
  4. First hpde ever, the car was amazing!!!!

I've met Dave; good man. The trick with Summit Main is to negotiate turn 1 quickly, keep your speed up through turn 5, and then work smoothly to not burn off too much speed in the middle/infield section. That's where the lighter cars can make up a lot of ground. You can also maintain an...
  5. First hpde ever, the car was amazing!!!!

    It is supposed to a road-course driver's car, after all . . .
  6. First hpde ever, the car was amazing!!!!

Congrats on a great first HPDE experience. Summit Main is a wonderful track to have fun on, and packs a lot of great elements into a relatively small package: there's something for everyone and every platform, though the front straight through turn 4 does favor high HP quite a bit. And, I'm...
  7. Transmission Temperature

Unofficial reports on this forum suggest that 280 F is the threshold; possible 20 degrees or so lower.
  8. GT350R vs Gt350 Tech pack. Same track, same driver. Driving Impressions

Do you think the difference between much lighter wheels with more grip in the tires on the R vs. the Tech was a reason behind the difference you felt in steering? Did you measure hot temps on the Super Sports? I found that it took about 15 minutes to get these tires to 36-38 psi on my Tech.
  9. Are SS Brake Lines available for the GT350? Only quality ones!!

It's worth noting that often enough, OE brake lines are rubber over SS. I don't know that to be true here, but it will be worth comfirming before making a jump.
  10. Tech Pack Transmission Cooler Install - Success!

Agreed. This is another reason I stayed focused on installing the system in a very use-specific way. While the OE mechanical pump is always on, the Mocal pump is not rated for continuous use, and I certainly don't know what the lower and upper temp thresholds should be for effective cycling...
  11. Tech Pack Transmission Data Point

Flawed logic and flawed equivalencies seem to dominate these discussions. A car that has to retire in less than 10 minutes is not a track-capable car, nor is it "better" than a "lesser" car that can stay out longer. What was the point of including all of the go-fast bits on a Tech? It would...
  12. Tech Pack Transmission Cooler Install - Success!

I didn't investigate a temp controlled approach given my very focused purpose and tight timeline when I jumped into this. But, the only real question is to decide at what temp you'd want the pump to activate and install a swtich accordingly. Very generalized ad hoc data from posters on this...
  13. Tech Pack Transmission Cooler Install - Success!

I installed a toggle switch inside the engine bay: pump is turned on/off for track duty. An inline thermo switch can be installed through one of the line fittings. I haven't taken that step at this point, but it makes sense to do so.
  14. Tech Pack Transmission Cooler Install - Success!

The pump is not quiet, but it's not particularly noisy either. Because I have it "hard" mounted to metal the sound is transmitted into the cabin more so I think than if I had a more isolated or insulated setup. But, it is not particularly loud and I can only hear it when the car is not moving...
  15. Tech Pack Transmission Data Point

Which part of the Glen killed your chin spoiler? I suspect the bus stop, between 10 and 11, or turn 1. The new curbing is high and very rough and few cars can take the curbs right now without being upset, or damaged. Was this your first track event ever? What event group did you run with?
  16. Tech Pack Transmission Cooler Install - Success!

With the right desire, this is one of those projects that you really can use to learn your way around basic mechanical processes. But, you'll have to challenge some comfort zones . . .
  17. Tech Pack Transmission Cooler Install - Success!

Yes, all access was through the wheel well. Once the well liner is removed, everything is accessible. No other body panels were removed, or needed to be removed for this setup.
  18. Tech Pack Transmission Cooler Install - Success!

Thanks to you for the inspiration and charting a path forward. I certainly was very pleased to be able to run the car with the only limitations being the "normal" ones such as tires, car setup and so on. Since the car was designed to have a cooler in the lower right of the bumper, there's...
  19. Tech Pack Transmission Cooler Install - Success!

Reserved. Some of the pics were rotated 90 degrees. Sorry.
  20. Tech Pack Transmission Cooler Install - Success!

Taking inspiration and several steps from fellow forum member SVTDSM, and since I was in a situation where I needed my Tech Pack to be relatively track capable, I took the plunge and fabricated a transmission cooler setup. This was more a result of my immediate circumstances than losing or...
