  1. Track Day Mini Report

I was helping to train some new HPDE instructors and was able to take advantage of lots of open track time. For those familiar with NJMP, I was on the Lightning track, a short flow course with some good high speed areas and a few interesting transitions. Conditions were bright and clear, with...
  2. LIMP MODE WHILE OUT FOR A DRIVE IN THE COUNTRY

Again, Ford is not at fault or responsible. -- This is quoting from an earlier post. Of course they are: the different transmission was their choice. And, it was a bad choice. It's not even worth debating whether an additional $800 would've turned buyers away, since there's no real logic to...
  3. LIMP MODE WHILE OUT FOR A DRIVE IN THE COUNTRY

Damn, those are all reasonable reasons . . . it's no fun deflating a good conspiracy rant!
  4. Cooler Retrofit Compilation Thread / Sticky Request

Zombiekiller, Did you order all of the factory parts through a dealer? I think the answer is "yes", but I just wanted to confirm. Thanks.
  5. For those that removed the clutch helper spring . . .

Yes, watch out for the grease! It jumps off the clutch spring perches. I'd suggest having a rag handy.
  6. LIMP MODE WHILE OUT FOR A DRIVE IN THE COUNTRY

I would also ask based on that statement why Ford reconfigured every car after a 1.5 year run? What market analysis and buyer preference forecasting told them that despite the relative absence of reported problems and complaints, every car needs to be fitted with then transmission pump and...
  7. LIMP MODE WHILE OUT FOR A DRIVE IN THE COUNTRY

    What's your data set?
  8. LIMP MODE WHILE OUT FOR A DRIVE IN THE COUNTRY

I've read the posts, several times. While they do not describe "normal" driving, or driving within legal speed limits, they don't read to me as the equivalent to track driving. Having spent years on the track (HPDE, racing and instructing) I feel confident saying that. I don't mean that to...
  9. LIMP MODE WHILE OUT FOR A DRIVE IN THE COUNTRY

Yes, I think Ford made a mistake, and I do not believe that the MY 2017 change for every car to have the coolers and same transmission is the result of market analysis about owner preference based on their intended use. Unless you mean to say that owners prefer not have their cars overheat and...
  10. LIMP MODE WHILE OUT FOR A DRIVE IN THE COUNTRY

True. I decided not to edit my post to clarify that detail. It still is a manufacturing choice I find baffling.
  11. LIMP MODE WHILE OUT FOR A DRIVE IN THE COUNTRY

With all due respect to those who get really turned off when they read what they think is some kind of a "give me something for nothing" statement, I will say that addressing overheating transmissions and limp mode is not, I repeat, NOT, the same thing as radios and seats. This is a fundamental...
  12. Cooler Retrofit Compilation Thread / Sticky Request

He's certainly the pioneer, but I personally wish he does not also have to be the savior. At the risk of breaking my own thread-starter rule/request, my one real gripe in all this was the choice to use a different transmission in the base/tech cars. That's the real hurdle here, and there just...
  13. Cooler Retrofit Compilation Thread / Sticky Request

I'll mention here that I sent an email to Pikes Peak racing about 4-5 weeks ago to ask about their cooler development. No response. And, I don't think the Pikes Peak poster has provided any more updates in that particular cooler thread. So far, at least on this forum, the only confirmed...
  14. I hope the GT350 influences the entire automotive industry

The Twins have a great chassis and are great handling cars. I can speak to this since I owned and tracked one before moving to the GT350 (and out of a BRZ). But, every performance aspect of the car left me (and many others) wanting more, much more. The hottest aspect of the cars is the...
  15. Titanium Brake Shields for GT350

    I'll commit!
  16. For those that removed the clutch helper spring . . .

I have not noticed any play since swapping springs. In fact, there was a touch of play before the swap; none now.
  17. Screeching brakes

The squealing is from the aggressive brake pad compound not being used within its design parameters; i.e., high performance braking. Unlike a harder "street" compound, a more aggressive compound really needs to be bedded in to transfer an even layer of pad material to the rotor. Bedding the...
  18. For those that removed the clutch helper spring . . .

With the single spring there is a bit more tension and effort required to work the clutch. But, the tension is linear and consistent. The more I drive with it the more I really like the new clutch action and engagement. I expect you'll like it also. If not, it's just as easy to revert to stock...
  19. For those that removed the clutch helper spring . . .

The two-spring setup is almost like a progressive setup, but maybe there's a different purpose. It makes the total stack height taller than a standard Mustang setup. I'm leaning towards a progressive effect because in comparison, with just the Steeda spring, the tension is nice and linear.
  20. For those that removed the clutch helper spring . . .

Just installed the Steeda spring. I did not reinstall the small helper spring given the length of the new spring compared to stock. I'm assuming that's the correct solution and the Steeda instructions do not show the helper setup at all. The feel is very much improved and overall effort is...
