Maybe this should be a poll?
I seem to have a consistent leak at the oil filter mounting location.
After my first oil change I noticed a leak around the filter location. Initially I thought it was residue from a messy dealership change (yes, I decided to have my first change at 500 miles...
If you haven't decided on a harness/restraint and roll bar system that will support a HANS-type neck restraint, then another option is the Simpson hybrid system which does not rely on restraints for head and neck protection. The unit is a harness around your torso with tethers to the helmet and...
I'd like to add my thanks to the trailblazers and archivists. Tranny gauge and red snake enabled; double honk deactivated.
Any steps to deactivate the door open chime?
The factory material is more sealant than thread locker.
Blue locktite shouldn't create enough of a bond to resist removing the filter with a good adapter, but . . .
There is a thread sealer / light locker compound on the factory filter. Anything more "shouldn't" be necessary.
I attribute mine coming loose after torquing to two full track days. But, that's just guesswork.
I'm assuming you did, but did you drain the oil from the pan before removing the filter?
Some folks have had success with placing a bag around the filter before removal.
Whether the factory did/did not properly torque the filter, keep an eye on it because it can loosen up. I personally torqued the filter down with an adapter and torque wrench and it loosened up enough to leak oil.
This motor vibrates in way that's new to Ford, and it's systems engineering may...
Does the "oil cooler" (#31) have oil line connections, or only coolant line connections? Is the cooler essentially a water jacket around a central core that feeds oil to/from the filter? If so, then if this is an "oil cooler" line integrity problem, might that mean that the loss of oil isn't...
Track mode does allow a lot of room to work. The only time I've put the car out of shape enough to engage stability control was at Wakins Glen in the bus stop, with the new paving and higher curbing. The combination of steering angle and slip because of the very high gator curbing was too much...
Based on your description, I would say that the systems did not kick in.
In turn 1 on Lightning, at apex, your right front wheel will unweight quite a bit, and if you're carrying enough speed in a relatively stiff car, it will be off the ground. Your right rear will unweight a bit, but will...
BTW, I've spent a lot of time on Lightning, and that track has several areas where you absolutely can engage the safety systems, and you would notice it.
In the turns 2-5 section with the tight right-left-right-off camber up and over the hill (turn 5), if you're out of shape then the systems...
You'll feel the traction and stability control systems working when they kick in: either a power cut or brake application; sometimes both. They're not very intrusive, but you'll recognize them working.
As for a "neutral" feeling car, the Shelby is very well balanced, and is so well setup from...
While not strictly apples to apples, GT3 and higher classed pro race cars use abs and proprietary versions of traction and/or stability control; yes, with large ranges of slip, pitch and yaw allowed. The point is not to fret too much about believing you should need to or have to completely...
Daily driving split between the GT350 and an F150. My commute is urban, but short. Even in sport mode, the Shelby soaks up bad pavement and bumps (Magneride!). If it's a little too crazy, comfort mode makes it all work well.
I have the tech pack. This trim level makes the Shelby one of the...
