I'd advise test-driving anyway and decide whether you really need more power (bearing in mind that the power delivery will be very different from the M5). After 11+ years in a 450bhp Vette followed by the same power in the heavier Mustang, I can't think of any situations on the road where I...
To be honest, at nearly 2 tonnes it's doing pretty well. BMW M cars used to have such crap brakes that nothing else had the chance to wilt before they faded to nothing. Consensus from the US-based folk seems to be that in hot weather the PP2 cars wilt after about 3 laps, so wouldn't expect the...
So a realistic base price is $80k, add shipping at say $5k gives $85k, 10% duty gives $93.5k, VAT takes it to $112.2k. Using CS's stated exchange rate of 1.22 gives £92k. Let's assume it's a mare (pun intended) to get through IVA so take it to £100k. Hmm....
I know people are talking about...
Isn't it going to be throttle-opening related? So if you're cruising at 70 in a high gear, pretty much anything will be quiet. I used to have Borla Stingers on my Vette and there wasn't much "proper" exhaust noise cruising at 70, just drone from resonance unless you hit the gas.
I'm sure they work - after all, the front end of the car is basically a box with no bottom or lid, so any braces that act as corner stiffeners, or a partial top or bottom are bound to help. How noticeable that is, and at what point you hit diminishing returns is another matter. Either way...
Actually, just checked and the US mags do a 1 (not 5) foot roll out but never mention it because "it's standard"! So you can probably add a couple of tenths to their published numbers. (Also, modded cars need not apply :cwl: )
Even more interesting is that the 1 foot roll out is to make it...
I think one of the US mags claimed to have done a 3.99 0-60 in an A10 fastback, but you have to watch out with US mags because they tend to test on very grippy surfaces, don't worry about averaging in both directions, and often do a "5 foot roll out" which I think means they start timing after...
List price over here is a bad start, and then the dealers don't want to discount...whereas in the states you can easily get $20k off a high spec Vette from what I'm told.
With Vettes it's always worth waiting until the 2nd year and generally worth waiting until the 4th year. e.g. C5 came out as a '98 and the '01 models had lots of improvements, C6 had 4-speed auto and weak diff as an '05, proper auto as an '06 and major improvements as an '08. C7 I haven't...
LV through (I think) money supermarket. It was a multi-car with my wife's BMW, and the bit for my Mustang was just over £400 with lots of no claims and I'm mid-50s, but it is for 8k miles with Business use.
The detailing's too fussy (as is/was the C7) but that's still no reason to step into an uber-Beetle... As for price, at the moment we've got a double whammy of crap exchange rate combined with the age-old problems of duty on US imports and manufacturers being a bit cheeky. If the...
And the "test every part" rule is now made even worse by the WLTP emission tests. As a result, manufacturers are starting to only offer a small number of option bundles whereas they used to offer the bundle as a way of you saving a few euros/quid (by buying a few things you didn't need!) but...
In the US, everybody knows the pony is a pony, and only one company makes a pony car... In Europe, more people are likely to think it's a prancing horse that needs straightening and ask you what kind of Ferrari it is :)
Is it really better for your engine? Given how corrosive E85 is, has Ford ever stated that all of the components in the engine and fuel system are safe with E85? (The manual says don't use anything with more than 10-15% ethanol depending on which market you're in, which you could read as it...
Great point. I only ever run one car at a time, so for me it has to be a convertible as well. An old friend used to run multiple cars, but found he only ever drove the convertible(s) - e.g. he had a C6 Z06 but didn't drive it in bad weather (for fairly obvious reasons involving crazily wide...
Also the alcantara seats, especially for the convertible, seems like a negative - pleather's just more practical. (Waits for cloth versus leather flamewar...but in Europe there is no cloth option as all cars are near enough Premium + PP spec)
