Woah, you definitely want to get rid of all those burrs before you proceed, I hate to say it, but that looks like poor machining (factory) to me. Cracks can propagate from rough edges also, so you are on a good path.
I wouldn't force induction this car, seems out of character for it, drag race it, yeah, intake exhaust tune, most definitely, and please Ford, make a rear end from the factory that doesn't wheel hop already.
