Btw, granny shifting at too low of rpm and messing up the timing forces the synchros to compensate and lets the engine speed drop too low so the car jerks when you let the clutch out unless you rev match. This is far more damaging than a good shift at mid-high rpm.
I’ve torn down manual...
Agree with that. Unless I’m on the track I’m never jamming from 5th to 2nd (and probably still not then). My comment was directed at the insinuation that shifting at high rpm’s will break parts. Shifting is timing. Once you decouple the input shaft from the engine you’re trying to match the...
They do but from past experience it’s a big fight to get them to pay fair value. I posted this on a fishing forum I’m on and they suggested homeowners insurance would usually cover it. I still have to look at my policy but seemed like a good thought
boomer comment. Completely irrelevant to bring up street racing in a discussion about whether factory no lift shift damages the transmission except to get sympathy from the “these kids don’t know how to drive” crowd.
Bottom line is ford is not enabling a feature on a car and warrantying it for...
There is a fundamental lack of understanding of how a manual trans works on this site.
once I press the clutch in, the trans and all its internal parts could give two shits what the engine is doing. It could be stalled, it could be at 9000rpm, it couldn’t matter less when I am actually moving...
You for sure can, but they have different part numbers so I suspect the PP1 MC has a different pressure ramp rate
I found the bedding procedure on this site. Don’t remember it. But I had some shimmy when I bought the car at6k miles. Cleaned rotors real good, did bedding procedure, good to go now.
Once bedded in the brakes are excellent! Ford nailed the brakes on this car. Great control with light braking and then progressively harder as you push down. They reel my car in from mid triple digit speeds 150+ down to 45mph and have never warped. No reason to go to GT350 brakes.
you might...
I would consider trading for recaros if interested … I’m in Detroit so not too too far from Pittsburgh. Going out of town for a couple weeks but if you’re interested and haven’t found something by the time I’m back let me know and maybe we can meet somewhere in the middle.
I’ve had this philosophy all my life: if the car can’t handle how I’m going to drive it, I need a more performance oriented car.
this car has been bullet proof for the 2k I’ve had it and I’ve driven it very hard. It sees a sustained 140+ 3-4 days out of the week ( in Mexico )
edit: I should...
Anybody bought this and can recommend a company?
Going to Yellowstone soon and will have to check a bag with a few K worth of fishing gear. Makes me real nervous doing that with 3 connecting flights.
Going to try an as built bcm reset with Forscan.
anybody have any other last ditch ideas? Would really prefer to not take it into the dealer if possible
Same guys that said I shouldn’t use my factory no lift shift feature because it would destroy the clutch lol
My neighbor dailies an AMG GT rain snow or shine. Drives the hell out of it. It inspires me to actually drive my car that’s worth 1/5th of the AMGs value.
Yeah you’re not going to hurt the motor from lugging it unless you’re boosted. Lugging isn’t really a thing with a computer controlled engine like this. It will limit your throttle application even if you are flooring it.
Now you want to know what rpm to launch at will roll racing check my...
I have had to floor it in 4th at 2000rpm to avoid an accident no time to shift. I generally will not floor it until 3300rpms.
I usually shift around 3000-3500rpms but will cruise at 1500ish rpms. I’m usually in 4th by 35mph, 5th by 50mph.
Tried this last night. It did not fix it. Called my dealer earlier and they had no clue. Given all the dtc codes coming from my bcm they said to bring the car in next week and they’ll replace it.
