This is the screen/APIM turned over, APIM up. You know it has navigation if somebody wrote "NAV" with a sharpie. Perhaps I'll write "GIRLFRIEND" on my gal's arm. Just so I can be sure.

Step one, I remove the harness that holds the screen + APIM unit to the dash. There are 2 (identical) parts to this harness, right and left. They are both held on the the screen (not the APIM) by 2 screws. Note that the screw is some kind of star shaped screw. It probably has a name, but I don't...

It is time for Part 2 of this tragedy of three parts. I have the new screen, and will proceed to remove the cracked screen from the APIM. It's pretty easy. The photo does not capture the crack, despite the fact you can see it from across the dang room.

Welp, I cracked the 8 inch screen. I am going to weep shamelessly for a bit. I have ordered a replacement screen, and will continue this misadventure when it arrives. As a lame bonus, I will record for posterity how to remove a screen from the Sync module (APIM) and attach another screen. It...

There is no one right way to do this. There are a million ways to do it wrong. This took some experimentation.

This seems promising.

It is now time to run the USB media hub cables from the dash hole through the console to the console glove box.

The USB cables are genuine Ford parts. Accept no substitute.

For educational purposes, a view with everything plugged into the hub. The power supply is part of the conversion wiring harness. Harnesses very, so.

Black and gray old fashioned mini USB male plugs. And the power supply.

A further interlude on the console USB hub follows. The wiring was a bit confusing until I remembered this post: https://www.mustang6g.com/forums/threads/sync-3-swap-its-all-in-here.82973/ Then it was not confusing. Black goes to the APIM, gray goes to the bezel. Boom!

This is the cavity where the ACM resides. Note the 3 cables. They were all fairly easy to disconnect, which is good, since they were hard to get to. The ACM doesn't move too much until these are disconnected. The cable on the right is connected to the AM/FM antenna. I have no idea what the other...

It does not end. The ACM, or as I like to call it, the CD player, is held in by 4 7mm screws. I proceed to unscrew.
