I put the panel back, which weirdly feels nice.

Using some 3M double sided tape, I stick the 2 antenna units to the dash. The Ford Motor Company was nice enough to supply a giant hole to snake the wires through. Thank you Ford!

Time to remove the top dash panel. It is connected by several clips, and was very hard to remove. Much gnashing of teeth. Underneath is where I will stash the GPS and Sirius antennae.

The Sync2 module has all manner of different cables in back. Two USB style cables, and 2 others that were a pain to disconnect.

The Sync2 module is now exposed. It has 3 7mm screws holding it in place. The are slightly different than the all the other 7mm screws. So set them aside. Unscrew.

It is has a cable whose connector is really wild. Has a clip and a neat lever thing that pulls the plug right out.

I pull out the screen.

I keep a towel underneath on the console to keep any screws from falling into another dimension that exists only in this car. Jimmy Hoffa hates stepping on them.

I unscrew them.

Success. The bezel is removed. Take a small break for cursing and liquor. It's totally fine to drink at 830AM. Do note the 4 7mm screws holding the screen on.

I begin to disconnect the cables from the bezel. Each connector has it's own sort of clip designed solely to cause minor injuries to human fingers. Somewhere, Henry Ford laughs.

Remove the 4 screws, and I pull the bezel off from the top, then pull up to release if from the console. Note the clips that hold this in.

With the panel gone, these 2 7mm screws are exposed. The other two at the top of the bezel:

Back to the task at hand. Using a small flathead screwdriver, I pried this small panel off. If you look closely at the buttons, they seem to have some of that mold that killed all those people in that video game. My car is kind of gross.

In the picture above, you can just barely see a few pixels of silver near the bottom of the panel. Holy dog turds. I fished a dime out the tiny gap between the panels. This project is already paying for itself.

Next target: this little panel here, under the bezel. There's stuff under here I need to get to.

Pro tip life hack: wash your hands a lot if you do this. This keeps you clean, and the car clean as well. I also cleaned the panels that were removed, and wiped down the exposed interior parts. This is likely the only time some of these will see the light of day, so take the time to clean.

Anyway, I pull out the female USB connector. In my case, I will not be using that again. It will simply exist in the purgatory of the console, doing nothing, seeing nothing, but hearing everything.

And there we are! That was almost the hardest part.

My kit came with the entire hub assembly. However, the only piece I require is the actual hub. Note the clips on the side. They are very hard to get too when inside the console. But if you can get those 2 clips, it pops right out. I had to take a walk after it was done.
