I'll admit that I found it baffling that, while the auto came with 3.15, and the manual came with 3.31, that you couldn't factory order an auto with 3.31 gears, but had to jump from 3.15 to 3.55. Strange.
I'm in, and I would have NO idea where to begin to take it!
Perversely, though, I would drive like grandma, and maybe then give them a taste of what it could do only after someone gave me crap about it.
(while not getting myself in trouble, hopefully)
I'm on Android, and I didn't find "play as blue tooth call" or anything that sounded like it in my Navigation Settings on Maps.
I just spent some time digging through the manual, and I'm guessing I've missed it, but I don't know what this means or how to do this.
Normally with the call, the...
So, I have a base 2015 GT, and the base sound system.
With my phone (Android), normally when I use a regular Bluetooth unit in my ear, the phone usage goes through, but use of Google Maps also causes the voice to come through the Bluetooth.
So, I have my car set up so that it pairs with my...
I meant more along the lines of, what if a 90 degree V8 was designed based on the overall design decisions that went into the 60 degree Cyclone. But, as jasonstang stated, it wasn't anything else about the design, size of heads, block, etc., so much as the 60 vs 90 degree angle that makes the...
Hmm, I wonder how much more cost, and what effect there would have been on fuel economy and power, had they gone with direct injection?
Might have been something I'd've been willing to pay for, but I say that without knowing how much the cost would've increased.
I suspected that the bank-angle might have something to do with it. I think the 3.7's bore is a little bigger though (assuming no mistakes in Wikipedia, 95.5mm, vs the Coyote's 92.2)
That said, I wonder what their deck heights are compared to each other, and I wonder if (with hindsight) Ford...
I wouldn't be surprised if things went that way.
First, direct-injection will certainly give a bit more in terms of fuel economy and power.
I imagine Ford would go to a new engine design, or, if they stick with the Modular/Coyote/Voodoo block, could even design a "big block" version that has...
If I were to speculate, I would say that's only part of the story.
Keep in mind that the Modular is now a quarter of a century old (sheesh, where does the time go), and that the Windsor was a 1960s design, I believe that they were trying to get
better horsepower
better reliability
better...
I can't imagine this hasn't come up before. However, one of the things I thought was a sort of constraint for Ford is the bore spacing on the Modular engine. The spacing is fairly small, thus, they can't go big bore on it.
And, at 5.0L, and those enormous heads, the engine is huge in the...
Perhaps. Then again, in the late 70s and early 80s, they thought it'd be the end of large displacement engines, and yes, they were also anticipating that no more V8s ever was a very real possibility in the near future. One year, there was a 305 offered in the Corvette, of all things!
But...
Cool stuff!
By the way, did anyone else have the problem where the link to this from the front-page preview about this story wasn't actually a clickable link, or is it just some quirk with my browser? I'm using Firefox.
As it is, I accidentally stumbled into this thread after looking at an...
It's a good thing for me that she's about 2700 miles away, rather than in the car with me, because I'd be likely to get in trouble...
Agreed on that last part - but I don't have the weather to blame. I only take the car out when it's nice. It never feels like it's losing traction, it feels...
Definitely - what was considered high-performance in 1970 is now "the base V6 model"
As to the upper limits of the GT, I'll have to admit that this is the first car I've owned that I have yet to actually floor it. Maybe it's because I'm not 20 anymore, but while I've occasionally leaned on it...
Progress. After all, for the 5th gen, the 3-valve 4.6 was making just about the same power that the earlier 4-valve Cobra Mustang engine made.
Now, the V6 comes close to that - about the same horsepower, but a bit shyer on torque. Gotta love things as they improve.
Yeah, I sort of suspected that the 2015 V6 would still hit the over-3500 class.
I've gotta do some digging and see if that's the case for the 2005-2009, and 2010-2014.
