When the powertrain is under high load the transmission and engine move slightly. If you are shifting using pure muscle memory based on the position of the transmission when it's not under load, you may push the shifter to an area between gates or worse into a totally different gear than you...
I tweeted at ProClip last week and asked about when they were coming out with the dash clip for the S550 and was told "early 2015." I've had these mounts before in previous cars and they are great.
I don't have a problem with the concept, just the execution. The visual design needs work. Right now it's just too distracting.
If I had access to the stylesheet I'd make changes to reduce the visual impact - incorporate the "thanks" box directly into the post, simplify the verbiage ("The...
I can't speak to the clutch noise but the gear whine is normal on the MT82. Ford had that problem come up late during development, so they switched to a trans fluid with thicker viscosity then released the car to production. Problem was, the thicker fluid caused shifting problems in cold...
I rented an Ecoboost Premium for a few days and thought the auto was decent. To me it feels like an auto that you would describe as a "slushbox". Not very crisp, but smooth. Manual shifts are nowhere near as quick as BMW's ZF8 or DCTs. You grab a paddle and there is definite lag, but when the...
I just wanted to touch on interior quality for a second. I rented an EcoBoost Premium last weekend and actually made a point to record a video of what it sounds like pressing on various areas of the center stack. I was impressed by how solidly built it was, almost no ticks or creaks at all. I...
303 Aerospace Protectant. It isn't very shiny (which I like) and the UV protectant properties help keep the rubber from cracking and drying out and the plastic from fading.
Incorrect. Not sure where you are getting your information. The MT82 and 6R80 are the only transmissions available in the Mustang at the moment across V6, EB and GT models.
Hah, yeah, small world. Technically West Melbourne :D
The 2 hour drive isn't great but it's the biggest auto show in the area (CFL's is so much smaller). Plus as I'm at just over 12k into a 36k mile lease with less than 6 months to go I figured I could spare the 300 miles
Which I'm fine with; my 335i was a ZF 6HP something or other and it was fantastic. I understand the 6HP is the particular transmission Ford licensed, so... works for me.
I am in the minority but I am looking at the Auto if I buy a Mustang for the following reasons:
The 6R80 is an absolute beast and from what I have heard they have improved the shift quality and timing from the previous gen.
I am not sold on the longevity of the MT82 even with the 2015...
