Part of #1 is VVT, which is already part of the 5L. I would agree it doesn't apply insofar as we already have that weight as part of the engine. That said, the AFM is kinda like Charge Motion Control Valves and the associated parts, which are new for 2015. Considering the larger valves and...
If it's bad enough to need a snow tire, or even studded tires(for snow use), I'd be climbing on the bus(where possible) before driving it! That said, if driving is the only option, I'd just buy chains.
This reminds me on an escapade of sorts with 1 of my brothers and 1 of my Mustangs back in...
If this isn't yet covered: They may not have been accurate, but Lincoln lists the weight for the AWD 2.3 @ 172 lb over the 2.0L FWD. They also show their MKC being much, much heavier than the Ford Escape... 231 lb heavier in AWD form. The Lincoln with the 2.3 and the Ford with the 2L... anyway...
IRS vs SLA in snow isn't really a question for you, considering the whole car.
Your car will come with a "wet/snow mode" setting if I read correctly. With that it's going to be better than the 06 regardless. That said, if the system works as expected, you'll have MORE TRACTION at slow speeds...
I hope it's still an 8.8, but had my doubts when I noted obvious changes.
Why add a pound to a car you're intentionally trying to make lighter? I would rather those over the old school spring system, but not over a simple prop. Besides, when removing the hood later, it's easier w/o those lift...

Sorry, I was only talking about CRUDE, not all gases and oil... your graph includes them all from the looks.
I hadn't bothered looking beyond 2012 till now.
Important note: See how we...
The video I saw only said BOSS 302. It's the one where he said the car is 40mm wider(70mm for the rear track) in the back and lowered 30mm in the front and 70mm in the rear, etc.
HERE...
#1 Oil producer... RUSSIA.
#2 Saudi Arabia
#3 USA.
As for producing more than ever under Obama, that's not even a funny joke, nor is it remotely possibly true... Not POSSIBLY true... Look back in history and you'll quickly learn that USA used to be the #1 producer of basically everything...
Definitely. The SN95 was a pig with the same basic 5L as the 93 it replaced and the chassis was all but identical for all intents and purposes... It was much slower. My 91 ran 14.4's best(15.1 1st pass ever- my brother  for an hour!) when stock and my 95 GT convertible(stock till she...
I consider the entire list of parts, moving or not. The sub-frame for IRS is far bigger than standard and crosses the entire undercarriage whereas the old setup did have to do that. The fact there are more parts as well only amplifies the probability of more weight. When all is said and...
Hood struts not only add weight, they're GARBAGE compared to basically any working prop... the prop won't ever take a permanent vacation just because they feel old and won't cost $50 or more to replace in most cases, if one were to crash or whatever and break it.
I did and rather agree. I...
Hmmm... that's great mpg... My Escape doesn't get there overall and I drive more on highway that off, though I tend to at least drive the speed limit and pass the idiots who drive too slowly, when I can. Testing has been conclusive: I can get better economy(averaging 26-26.5) if I drive under...
To hear most tell it, the only reason on earth it can beat the BOSS 302 is because the new car has IRS.
That said, beating another car over a road course, particularly a short course, certainly doesn't mean it's more powerful or lighter. Example: Camaro SS 1LE vs Mustang GT w/ Track Pack. Yes...
I couldn't tell a thing from that link in your last post.
Commodity traders are responsible for oil prices by bidding on oil futures contracts. At any rate, oil is typically purchased before it ever leaves the dirt. OPEC will cap what they drill/pump and sell in their member nations. In the US...
The government forces manufacturers to add weight, period. With that, the only weight reduction we'll see is that chosen by a given manufacturer at a given higher cost to the consumer.
At some point, weight reduction becomes cost prohibitive and fuel efficiency is attained as it typically...
It looks cool... but I don't buy cool looks alone. From what I see, this car won't perform as well as I want and since Ford won't tell the full truth about this car, I'm quickly losing interest.
I agree that power levels tend to increase... Then again, there was 1974... I digress.
:rant:The problem we may see in the "more power" category is... GOVERNMENT! They are deeply involved in screwing "We, the People" and have been since the 1960's... With that, we may see a car suffering from...
