  1. IRS and drag racing

:clap2: Pretty much... Of course, the standard consumer, were it not for unending advertisement, wouldn't be the least bit aware what type of suspension the car has, just like now. Have you had multiple vehicles with SLA and with IRS? I have. I've driven literally hundreds of cars too...
  2. Guess the 2015 5.0 Coyote HP and TQ numbers

I don't see what we're going about here... I mean, my goal was increasing fuel economy, specifically hwy. Your suggestion merely brings the two near each other, which wouldn't likely help that at all. I would simply go with the 6060 and 3.73's and be done with it, knowing the engine is good...
  3. Guess the 2015 5.0 Coyote HP and TQ numbers

Yeah, well... what had happened is... Seriously, I prefer the 6060 because I personally WANT the wider ratio for the vehicle I have to drive much because I feel, if the torque of the engine is good enough, I want the better economy.
  4. IRS and drag racing

Those figures were representative... It isn't like I asked every Mustang owner. The point was, about 10 times more people drag race their Mustang than road race. Realistically, it's likely closer to 1,000 times more. I was being gentle. So consider about 5 million Mustangs made since the...
  5. Official 2.3L Ecoboost Thread

Thanks... We got way off course here. Sorry about that as it was not my goal and I'm sure, not theirs either.
  6. Guess the 2015 5.0 Coyote HP and TQ numbers

Not that it matters, I was thinking the MT82 was always rated at 390 ft-lb... I suppose due to mixing it up w/ the 5L tq rating... Still, I'd MUCH rather see a TR6060... but I'm not getting too concerned personally, because I'm all in with autos, especially with track modes and paddle...
  7. Guess the 2015 5.0 Coyote HP and TQ numbers

The main thing always comes down to the almighty dollar, for sure. If the 3.7L is much less expensive to build, it's gonna be hard to drop it and worse, it's already designed for the future, but they dropped it from the F-150, so they just may. I would think V6 sales are still the vast majority...
  8. Guess the 2015 5.0 Coyote HP and TQ numbers

Nothing he said made me think much about the 5L power, but it is nice to see the 2.3L will be over 310. I would expect a near match to power with torque and perhaps as much as 330-335tq. Btw, this only makes perfect sense and I've personally been wondering why Ford hasn't come out sooner with...
  9. Any V8 fans seriously considering the turbo I4, and why?

If I can remember... I've had the 2.3L twice and the turbo version was cool. I've had the 3.8L(V6), the 3.3L(L6), the 4.7(V8), "5.0" and 5.8L and I've even swapped in engines, including the biggest big daddy, the 7.5L 460... I prefer my 408 stroked Windsor. However, I own a 2L Ecoboost now and...
  10. Guess the 2015 5.0 Coyote HP and TQ numbers

For real... impressed... Even though the heads were initially designed for it, doesn't it seem curious Ford hasn't opined? You'd think they'd have already spread the word. On the other hand, it is possible they want to wait until most 2014's are off lots before they spill the beans on the new...
  11. IRS and drag racing

I, for one, certainly intend to drive one sooner rather than later, so I can tell myself there are great differences for the better. That said, having steered many Corvettes down the streets, I haven't yet found the smooth ride version... just sayin'... What is notable to most, is simply...
  12. Guess the 2015 5.0 Coyote HP and TQ numbers

If 467hp is reality, they'd almost surely rate it at 465 or even 460, but that's a really big bump for this engine unless we find out they've employed DI and there's been no serious talk about having done that with the 5L or 3.7L even though we know both are ready to accept it. Seemingly, with...
  13. IRS and drag racing

We're rather off course here, no pun intended. I have read plenty about the possibility of a bolt in SLA and would be great with that as an upgrade for drag racing(at a reasonable cost). Suffice to say, IRS is great stuff, for the 2 days per yr it's needed. It's also expensive to build...
  14. IRS and drag racing

Even if the IRS is lighter, it still has more pieces and soaks up more energy(power/torque) and Ford has blatantly told us about this suspension, noting the lack of squat, that it will be much stiffer and that generally doesn't mean better 0 - XXXmph acceleration. I'm new here... I would rather...
  15. Official 2.3L Ecoboost Thread

The current V6 has run 13.8's in stock form. The turbo 4 wastes little time spooling and weighs in around the same, probably slightly less(40ish lb on engine alone). The problem, which it will be to a degree, will show up in LAUNCH capability. The standard current Mustang suspension is awesome...
  16. 2015 Ford Mustang Order Guide (U.S. and Canada)

 Thanks JarStang! You're the reason I joined the forum, re-considering whether or not I want to buy a 2015 Mustang... having bought my Escape specifically to avoid that possibility... Still desperately wanting WEIGHTS! If it's here, I missed it so please, someone point it out if...
