It should be fairly easy. I just need to get the right sensor, then wire it in to the APIM. Someone has already done the work for EU cars which are the same as ours so I just need to follow that and then activate it in PCMTec.

Right. I got the oil pressure working - kind of.
We only have the 1 wire sensor in the UK - so essentially a switch - but the PCM does calculate implied oil pressure based on RPM etc.

So, I changed auF27983 from switch to transducer in PCMTec to see what would happen. Amazingly, the gauge came to life and was reading 80psi at cold start which then dropped to 50psi at idle. Driving the car the reading held at around 80psi.

Now, I appreciate that this isn't a real reading but it got the gauges working until I can source the correct transducer and fit it / wire it in.

I actually quite like it

Just be sure to keep the edges off the paint to stop them abrading it (so if you have to remove it, you are not left with witness of where it was when a standard sized plate goes back on)

It's on with 3M dual-lock tape. I have the UK one in the boot with tape ready so if I get pulled it's "Oh, I'm sorry. I was at a show and I forgot to swap it out".

I like it and its a shame that some of our law enforcement officers can be a bit arsey where we are. I was once stopped for the wrong coloured screw on my number plate!

I know it would ruin the effect, but wonder if the "legal" font was used and the top and bottom reduced in size would stop an arsey officer pulling you over.

Guess all you can do is try it and see what attention you get.

I will have to now they need to take photos of the cars they test. My friendly tester was always happy to let things like this go through because he's known me for years.

My MOT station is at the back of my brother's garage so they have done all the family's MOTs for years. The government and DVLA spoil all our fun! Ha ha

In the UK for this model year it is 2 letters, 2 numbers then 3 letters (unless you have a private reg) so this is his registration number for UK tax purposes.

No worries. I wasn't sure what was being asked so didn't reply. I understand now. Yeah, UK plates have several different layouts.

For our American brothers, here's a primer:

Cars after September 2001 are AANNAAA for example, AB12ABC
Cars between August 1983 and August 2001 are ANNNAAA for example A123ABC
Cars between 1963 and August 1983 are AAANNNA for example, ABC123A
Cars between 1953 and 1963 are NNNAAA for example, 123ABC
Cars between 1932 and 1953 are AAANNN for example, ABC123
Cars before 1932 are AANNNN for example, AB1234 however they weren't all 2 letters and 4 digits. They started with A1 in 1903 and would have run to YY9999 if they hadn't changed the format in 1932.
