GT350 Track Day! First time at Thompson Speedway with POV Footage

It's one thing to cross over the traction threshold while pushing 10/10ths in a competition setting. I've done it (last weekend below), but even then it's slower than not doing it. Wagging the tail just loses you tread depth and time.

"Wagging the tail" at corner exit as a novice driver while an instructor is in your car on an HPDE day is well outside of normal and would likely get you removed from the event. Critiquing a novice driver with an instructor in his vehicle for not "wagging the tail" and calling his video boring is a far stranger comment to make.

People keep saying its slower to do a power slide than to not. Why do people keep telling me this? Why don't you also tell me the sky is blue or water is wet? Of course it's slower. Track days are all about fun, not track times. If I wanted to try to set the fastest track time, I would have bought a used M4. Also, I want to burn up my rear tires because I hate them. And I didn't realize the video was from a novice driver with an instructor; I was making an observation. getting sideways at the track should be the end goal when he's no longer a novice.

I don’t have the Recaro seats so it was harder to stay planted in these seats. Overall though it wasn’t as bad as some other tracks that have long and fast sweeping corners.

Recaro's don't do much better for XL shirt wearers.

I think you are thinking of skid pad...not a place were you can carry 3 digit speeds.

I think you are thinking of skid pad...not a place were you can carry 3 digit speeds.

Thanks, but I know what I'm thinking. I did a track day at Laguna Seca and there is a slow speed corner upon exit you can get completely sideways. It was tough to do in my old BMW with its stupid E-Diff but with the 'stang it should be a blast. I also got a little loose coming out of turn 5 (I think) at 60 mph which was so much fun. You just need to know what you're doing.

Thanks, but I know what I'm thinking. I did a track day at Laguna Seca and there is a slow speed corner upon exit you can get completely sideways. You just need to know what you're doing.

Turn 6 going up the hill at Laguna is my favorite corner in the US and rotating the car out it is so satisfying. Thompson is pure grass with no runoff so that make me very reluctant to try anything.

Yes, that's the one. It's funny, I would try so hard to get the bimmer to step out but it's the opposite with the Mustang, it seems to try to get loose all the time, even with the TC on. I used to take the TC off the bimmer every time I drove it but I don't dare do that with the Mustang. I can't wait to try it when I'm on a track.
