do you folks know what their storage environment is like? if they have proper temperature and humidity to store tires long-term?

Huge warehouses, climate controlled. I’ve been picking up various closeouts from tire rack since the late 1990s, never one issue in dozens of purchases. Full warranty and road hazard included.

Five years is a stretch. I buy three year old tires from them. Are you going to use them on a daily and use them up in 2-3 years? If so I would.

For the street, nah. They're already 5 years old. In a year your driving on 6 year old 200TW tires, which aint it.

If I recall it's UV light that dries out the rubber. So if the tries are in a warehouse with no exposure to sunlight then I would think they'd be fine. I have cars that have tires on them that have well over 5 years of direct exposure to sunlight and they seem fine. Now having said that, I would only buy them at a reduced price and as already mentioned, burn them up on the track and not use then on my daily.

Yes, UV and heat cycling does it. Neither apply in Tire Rack environmentally controlled storage. Run them however you want. Only caveat: at 10 yrs post production retire them, regardless of storage or in service time.

We got them ‘04-06, ‘08-09 and last ‘14-17 as the Pontiac GTO, G8/G8 GXP and finally the Chevrolet SS Sedan. Mine is the SS and it’s a ‘14. No longer made and Holden no longer manufacturers cars, unfortunately. Long, sad story. Quality is typical recent GM, better interior materials than contemporary ‘14 Chevy by a bit. Favorite car to date. GT350 is about to take that crown though lol.

Edit: and lest I forget the ‘11-17 Chevy/Holden Caprice.
