Finally got on my new sill plates! The Ford Performance Kit gives you the 2017 GT350 sill plates, I had those previously. These are the 19-20 GT350 and 20-22 GT500 sill plates.

That turned out nice! Do you loose the lighted feature with those? And are you going to change the startup screen to match?

Yes you do loose the lighted feature sadly, but to me I don’t really mind. That’s a good call! I didn’t even think of changing the startup screen, I suppose it’s time to play with Forscan again lol.

Fun fact I forgot to include, they’re also the same sill plates as the Mustang GTD!

Ford has gotten really stingy lately with who they let use Ford trademarked and IP items…. SMH…. Some really good community members that put out some amazing work cant produce stuff because of it. Love the brand but too much greed as of late in the FoMoCo board rooms.

Ford has gotten really stingy lately with who they let use Ford trademarked and IP items…. SMH…. Some really good community members that put out some amazing work cant produce stuff because of it. Love the brand but too much greed as of late in the FoMoCo board rooms.

And if you were a trademark holder would you just let anyone use it simply because someone makes a good product with it? And not receive proper compensation for use of that trademark while the person making a product with it makes money off of your IP?

Ford should get a cut if someone uses their IP, if someone isn’t willing to pay for the use of their trademark/IP, they don’t deserve the use of it. No matter how amazing the product may be. That goes for any IP/trademark holder. They put in the work for it, it’s theirs.

There’s been quite a few creators that have tried to do the right thing and give Ford their fair market share on what they made using some of their designs (I.e. the Mach1 logo or font) and Ford flat out gave them a cease and desist on anything that had anything close to it. My point is there’s tons of creators that would add to the brand and share the right royalties if given the chance… instead we hear how often someone comes even close or offers and Ford has swooped in with the legal sledge hammer. It’s sad and kills the continued heritage of the brand.

Got it, my fault I totally misunderstood your post. Maybe Ford doesn’t think it will add value to the brand? Who knows. These brands are so protective of their IP and the vendors they partner with are usually very protective of their ability to use that IP (almost exclusively in some cases). Makes it tough (if not impossible) for new folks to break in for sure.

Protecting an IP by not allowing the use by 3rd parties is much easier than managing each account, validate the conformance, etc. Which might be quite tricky when it gets to logotypes, fonts, color tints, etc. It does not have to be directly an intention, but Ford might have just figured out that the overhead of dealing with all "incorporated" usage of their property could cost them so much that it would never pay off (both financially and for brand).
