I have never used heating in the seats (probably because I am not driving my Mach 1 in cold), but the cooling saved my ass quite a few times (and I am not even in a hot climate), even though I thought it could do better.

Recently I had an opportunity to test seats cooling in 2023 BMW X3 and to my surprise, the result was far more underwhelming than in Mach 1. So I can testify that cooling in Mach 1 is no joke (at least compared to BMW 🙂).

I have a friend with a Jaguar F Pace with ventilated seats. If I had purchased that car new and had paid for it I would be asking for my money back, it was barely noticable and I felt no cooling effect after an hour. He took it back a few weeks after he purchased it and the dealer said there was nothing wrong with them.

My seats in my 2019 GT/CS are the best! Even my wife says these are the most comfortable seats she has ever sat in.

I like the recaro look, but read quite a few reviews before deciding they weren’t the better option for someone who dailies. With that being said, the heated/cooled seats are nonsense imo. They do work, but it’s just a ehh factor to me. I happened to get them because of the deal I got on the car. It certainly wasn’t a make or break point. I think it’s overrated.

Even on 95 degree day, you can tolerate windows down and A/C off when you are running the cooled seats. It takes enough of the edge off a sweaty rear end that you can enjoy windows down. The motors for the seat vents are loud though, anyone else ever notice that? Not complaining, just an observation. I just turn my music up.

How do you get cooled seats with the AC off?

I took my 2021 GT back to the dealer shortly after I bought it, because of a hissing noise when the radio was on.

Couldn't find anything wrong with the audio system. Then they realized the seat coolers were on, and that was the noise we were hearing.

Switches for seat cooling or heating are separate from AC switch.

They do work bettter with the AC on because the air they draw is from the bottom of the seat. However I use mine no AC and windows down and just having the flowing air does make a difference.

I rarely have both turned off. It's either cooled seats or heated seats almost always. The heat feels good on my lower back.

Thank you, OP. This turned out to be more interesting than I expected.

When I was looking at getting my '22 I sat in one with Recaro's. I have never sat in a more uncomfortable seat. I've sat in race seats that fit like a glove but those to me sucked.
I live where I have 100° plus days and below -0° in the winter. The cooled seats do work after the car idles and gets cooled off. The heated seats when it's cold are warm when I get in the car are great.

I just press the button and they turn on:). But seriously, it’s just a fan that draws air somewhere on the back seat, because that’s where you hear it coming from. It’s independent of the A/C.

Maybe you shoud have your seats checked out ? I've never noticed a seat motor sound.
