I used to run my own landscaping company , used this stuff a bunch of times for people. A lot for a double gate type situations for a boat or caravan parking spot beside house. But due to local council bye laws you can not add 2nd driveway concrete from road to fence on the median strip. This stuff is the solution. Very popular in Australia and I’m sure you guys would have something similar. Your dad will still have his lawn and you will have a car park. Maybe is a compromise you dad will agree too.

Just bumping my post as I think it got missed. It’s worth running it past your parents as it will fix all of your problems and doesn’t cost much.

We have a patch of grass on the side, our neighbors paved theirs and park on it. I have offered to cover all costs for my parents including ripping it out and laying sod if they sell the house. "We don't like the look" is the answer with a resounding NO. unfortunate but lights and a camera will have to be my solution for this.

Did you open the link ?? It’s not paving it is structure under the grass so there is no look not to like. It’s just grass you don’t even know it’s underneath.

Anyway. Another option is suction cup lights. Very cheap and available in many different types and colours. The only thing I’d be worried about is people steeling them , so probably worth putting the, inside the car.

You can even buy them multi packs and come in all different colours. Water proof for pools etc.

While that might work I have unique things going on that occupy alot of my money and time. That's why I said to the other guy assuming everything, you don't know my exact situation or my medical history. Also there were a handful of options given, none of which offer any valid usefulness. I'm looking for someone creative to help me find some of the box kinda of idea instead of "sell the car" "magically find a load of cash" "commit crimes to prevent damage" etc. Also as shown Gemini and chat gpt are not reliable or accurate for anything at all relating to legality of things.
That's all fine, but in that case, I think you just explained why no landlord would ever lease you a place with $1500-2000 rent...

Yes I saw the grid system, it's still a no go and if I could park there I'd rather something below to prevent the dew and wet grass from rotting the underside quicker but either way it's a hard no from them. I'm not not concerned about lights being stolen I don't think people would do that (and I have dark tint so lights behind the tint wouldn't work the greatest). I was thinking of maybe those solar lights that flash on top of the super tall cones/concrete barrier walls for construction. And making a custom mount for a suction cup so I I don't have to worry about them

Because it's not 1500-2000. You have to make min 6-8k with pay stubs as proof to be allowed the option of paying for that 1500-2k rent. Make 4k which is plenty to cover it? Not enough. 3-4x monthly rent so they can guarantee you won't fall behind + first and last and a typically 1-5k security deposit if your lucky.

Right. And you just told me why they require that. You made it sound like you could easily afford 1.5-2K rent, and if that was the case, that means you should be saving at least that much every month right now. Which you just said you are not.

Unless there are somehow expenses you have right now that you would not have if you had your own place?

Im saving money now. But I have other expenses that I would still have. At a bare bones 2k a month (cheap since most 1 beds in a semi safe area are 2- 2.4k ish from what I'm finding online). I could swing it. But again, this thread isn't about this so please kindly keep the thread on topic. I do not wish to explain my exact expenses or personal issues

Haven't seen your reply to a car cover with reflective material on it? Seems like a cheap, easy attempt to solve a few of your problems..... definitely would make it stand out at night and keep the paint clean.

If you'd looked carefully, you would see that I DID give him advice earlier in the thread...😘
Creepy. Your advice wasn't helpful at all I'd say, so I didn't consider your comment at all.

get you a car cover that is bright in the day and reflective at night. I nice thick and soft one that won't scratch your paint when using it.

How about PIR security lighting on the front of the house, some to illuminate all the front garden (mood / decorative / on a timer / keep dad happy), and some brighter stuff aimed at the road where you park (security / visibility) ?

Position the PIR's on the edges of the property giving maximum time from initial illumination to passing your car spot.

Even if the illumination doesn't stop them tagging it, it will make any CCTV / dashcam footage much more useable.

My daughters and wife have all had retroreflective sport clothing - its very effective.

My wife even had some all black (in the day) sketchers that illuminated really well at night.

@Outlaw - you have a black car. Black graphics (they are actually a dark graphite grey) :

Not so black when they are hit with light :

Unless you park a lime mustang with the sun bouncing off it at the side of them ... lol :

Dude came here for advice on how to protect his car from getting hit... I dont think telling him to sell his car and/or "pull himself up by his bootstraps" is a productive direction to take the conversation.
Renting is BS... I dont believe in paying someone elses mortgage for them...
Buying isnt easy. Took $35k-ish for me just to get into my place. Down payment, closing costs, etc. Not everyone has that just laying around. Im not gunna lecture him because I dont know what his situation is.

Hes having an issue with his car, and came here hoping someone might provide an idea that didnt cross his mind.... Its a car forum, lets keep things car related.
Normally I would agree with you, but this thread has gone on seven pages, with myriad suggestions, and he just keeps telling everyone why their advice won't work for him. Plus, some of his explanations for why an idea won't work are a little suspect. Hell, a good chunk of suggestions here he has flat out ignored.

Most importantly, I don't think I've seen him offer a single thank you to anyone who has taken the time to give him a legitimate suggestion, regardless of how helpful the suggestion was for him.

This is the internet, you're crazy if you don't think we're going to give him sh!t at some point. And in this case, I think much of it is deserved. This kid has a lot to learn.

Oh I agree man... I thought I gave him some good advice, especially considering the driveway neighbors hit him before... which means theyre highly likely to do it again the next time theyre distracted...

But when he pushed back, I simply didnt argue with him... thats all.

I think theres a difference between that, and people asking him how old he is (Who ******* cares?) Or telling him to sell the car.
